Originally promised for 2020, the new Tesla Roadster It has been postponed to 2022. The electric supercar is highly anticipated due to its rather impressive specifications.
According to Elon Musk, the vehicle's numbers are impressive: The model will have over 1000 horsepower and a range of over 1000 km on a single charge.
In today's article, we at Senhor Carros will show you all the news about the model that aims to revolutionize the automotive world as we know it today.
If you're looking for the latest automotive news, you can't miss what we've prepared for you.
The new Tesla Roadster bears little resemblance to the old model.
Many may not remember, but eleven years ago the California-based American manufacturer launched the first generation of the Tesla Roadster.
At the time, the car was an electric sports car based on the Lotus Elise. The model's batteries provided acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and a maximum range of 350 km. Impressive numbers even for that era.
Tesla now presents the second generation of the Roadster.
The model that was expected this year is only now expected to enter mass production in 2022, and it is a much more extreme electric sports car and will likely be quite exclusive.

Unique design
The main objective of the new Roadster's design is to break with the patterns adopted by Musk in the past.
The front end features minimal elements and a rather aggressive style, with a pair of LED headlights and a somewhat sculpted hood.
For those who like sports cars, it will be easy to notice a resemblance to the Porsche 718 Cayman. A vehicle considered a benchmark in terms of design.
At the rear, the aerodynamic design is noticeably more appealing. Aiming to provide minimal drag, the rear of the new Tesla Roadster appears to end abruptly. This is very similar to what we saw in the... rare Bugatti Veyron.
All this refined aerodynamic design gives the Roadster the lowest possible drag. This aims to optimize the energy output from the model's batteries.
Another interesting detail about the model's design is its roof. It's made of glass and is completely removable, transforming the vehicle into a convertible.
Futuristic interior
Although the model hasn't been widely publicized, its interior has a futuristic feel.
Projections show cleaner benches. The space is well utilized and features touch-sensitive electronic gadgets.
One of the most striking features of the designs is the steering wheel, which closely resembles those found in racing cars.
Three engines and lots of speed.
For such extreme numbers, the model relies on an equally extreme structure.
The Roadster has a total of three electric motors. One is installed on the front axle and the other two are installed on the rear axle.
The three engines together are capable of generating a maximum torque of 1020 kgfm. Just for comparison, the Bugatti Chiron, which boasts the highest torque in the world, delivers 163.2 kgfm.
With so much initial torque, the Tesla Roadster promises astonishing performance figures.
According to simulations, the new Roadster would need only 1.9 seconds to reach 96 km/h and would reach 160 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The manufacturer's promised top speed is 402 km/h.
All these numbers make the Roadster the electric car The fastest in the world, and the source responsible for so much energy is a 200 kWh battery.
To tame all that power, the sports car will feature all-wheel drive.
Heavy and equipped with compressed air rockets.
Something that worries many people is the weight of the new Roadster. After all, electric batteries tend to be heavy.
The current concern about weight is based on the sports car's battery capacity, which is 200 kWh. This power is double that of the Tesla Model S Long Range, which weighs 2.2 tons.
Lucid Motors, an automotive battery manufacturer, has admitted that a 180 kWh battery weighs one ton.
Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that the battery alone in the new Roadster will weigh slightly more than 1000 kg.
But weight won't be a problem since the model will feature a jet engine with compressed air rockets.
The jet engine used in the Tesla Roadster incorporates the same technology used in SpaceX rockets.
It is actually an air compressor that will have twelve compressed air rockets spread throughout the vehicle.
According to Musk himself, the new Roadster will use a system that employs ultra-compressed air to achieve forces that will require a certain level of physical fitness from the driver to withstand.
The new supercar will have jet engines with the following characteristics:
- Rear: For acceleration;
- Front: For braking;
- Sides: To keep the car in check when cornering.
Projections show that, due to the small rockets, the vehicle could even float a few centimeters above the asphalt.
Price
With everything we've shown, it's not hard to imagine that the model won't be cheap.
Initially, the suggested price for the new Roadster is US$200,000, which at the current exchange rate would be approximately R$1.1 million.
For those who want the pleasure of being the first to drive the electric supercar, it is necessary to pay an advance deposit of US$$ 50,000 to reserve one.
In addition to the classic model, there will also be a special launch series called the Founder Series.
Tesla has not yet revealed the contents of the special edition. But it is known that it will cost a bit more: US$$ 250,000.
Conclusion
We know that the electric vehicle market is booming and will certainly be the future.
Many countries are moving towards electric vehicles, and Elon Musk, considered by many to be a visionary, has been betting on electricity as a means of mobility for some time.
Proof of this bet is seen in Tesla models that carry electric power in all their configurations. However, it is still an expensive and not very accessible technology.
In your opinion, is the future of vehicles electric, or do you believe that synthetic fuels or even hydrogen could hinder the advancement of electrified cars?
