What does the new Peugeot 208 offer?
You're about to discover all the new features on the exterior, interior, and under the hood of the new Peugeot 208. Get ready, because there's a lot to be revealed in this new hatchback.
Distinctive design
If there's one thing the new Peugeot 208 offers right away, it's its distinctive, and why not, futuristic design? They say you can't judge a book by its cover, but one thing is certain: the model is beautiful!
At the front, what stands out are the saber-tooth shaped DRLs that are present in all versions of the model and convey a sense of aggressiveness.
After observing the front, it's time to take a walk around the vehicle. When viewed from the side, the new 208 is also pleasing. The pillar and rear window have been more inclined, giving the hatchback a sporty coupe look.
And to top it all off, the rear is a sight to behold. The taillights are arranged in claw-like shapes and are interconnected by an element that has become fashionable in SUVs, widening the car's stance.
We can say without a doubt that in terms of design, it's unmatched. Today in Brazil, the new Peugeot 208 is undoubtedly the most beautiful hatchback of all.
But as many people already know, it's not enough to just be beautiful. You have to be good too.
Interior is a spectacle.
One thing that is quickly noticed in the new Peugeot 208 is the presence of a lot of hard plastic. This is the "new normal" for hatchbacks, although the higher-end versions have a soft finish that imitates carbon fiber with black piano accents.
Apart from the Active version – which is the entry-level version – all the others feature a panoramic glass roof, a unique item in the segment capable of illuminating and expanding the cabin, which is now more spacious since the vehicle has grown and reached the size of its main rival, the VW Polo.
Another highlight that needs to be mentioned in the cabin is the beautiful i-Cockpit, a completely different dashboard that the hatchback adopted from its previous generation.
Its main distinguishing feature is that it's viewed from above the steering wheel, not from within, and now, in addition to being digital, it's also 3D. There's a "normal" background layer and another intermediate layer where information is projected.
There is also a level, dubbed "analog," on the outer cover that displays indicators, such as the arrows, for example. At this level, it is possible to view other types of information such as fuel consumption, tire pressure, oil temperature, and many others.
Technology and connectivity are key strengths.
According to the manufacturer, the new 208 was literally born with Peugeot's DNA and contains a great deal of technology, excellence, and sophistication.
The model features a range of state-of-the-art, intelligent equipment that enhances safety and provides unique driving experiences.
It's time to emerge into these technologies.
Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D
One of the key technologies in the new 208 is the Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D, a unique system that projects all information in different layers. The end result of this system is a dashboard with three-dimensional technology.
The best part is that it can be customized to meet the needs of each driver.
Because the dashboard is positioned higher, it allows the driver to focus more on the road. This not only increases safety compared to a car with a conventional dashboard but also makes driving more ergonomic.
Induction charging
Some manufacturers are starting to invest in wireless phone chargers. A functional technology that eliminates the need for wires.
Simply place your smartphone on the charging area and, once the device is detected, the charging process will begin automatically.
In addition to the possibility of inductive charging, there is also the classic option via USB and 12W sockets. This allows everyone to stay connected during all their commutes.
Peugeot Radio Connect
The new Peugeot 208 features a 7-inch multimedia center with a color touchscreen that can be controlled via voice recognition, the functional steering wheel, or its buttons, which have been dubbed Toggle Switches.
Always within easy reach of the driver or passenger, the control center provides comfort and convenience as it connects to Apple CarPlay or Google Android Auto systems.
Furthermore, it is through the control panel that the temperature of the digital air conditioning is adjusted, and applications such as WhatsApp, Google Maps, Spotify, Waze, and many others are mirrored.
Security surprises.
When it comes to safety, the new 208 doesn't disappoint and could even be considered surprisingly good, which is a very positive thing.
Airbags
To offer greater safety to drivers and passengers, the new Peugeot 208 comes equipped with 4 airbags as standard and 6 airbags starting from the Allure version.
The front, side, and curtain airbags offer up to 8 points of protection and "cover" all occupants.
Collision warning and emergency braking
Considered standard on the model, this intelligent braking system was designed with the intention of avoiding a collision by reducing the vehicle's speed.
The system is activated if the driver does not react quickly enough to apply the brakes.
Using a multi-functional camera located at the top of the windshield, the system is able to detect obstructions in the road.
Speed sign recognition
This is a system that's simply out of the ordinary.
A camera detects and reads speed limit signs on the road and displays them on the instrument panel.
Each one is updated when the vehicle passes a new speed limit sign intended for cars.
In addition to providing safety, the system prevents fines due to driver inattention. It's not unreasonable to say it combines practicality with convenience.
Fatigue detector
The fatigue detector reminds the driver to take a break after long hours behind the wheel.
The system issues alerts when the driver has been driving for more than two hours at a speed exceeding 65 km/h. The alert is displayed on the dashboard with a message and a caption encouraging the driver to take a break.
Alert and correction for lane departure.
Using a camera mounted on the windshield, the new Peugeot 208 offers lane-keeping technology that detects the edges of the road through a system that monitors the lane markings.
If a lane deviation is detected, the driver is alerted on the dashboard.
Furthermore, as soon as the system identifies a risk of crossing accidentally One of the lane marking lines indicates that the steering is gradually corrected to keep the vehicle in its lane.
High beam assistance
In the new Peugeot 208, if the driver is driving with the high beams on and another car is approaching, it automatically lowers the beams to avoid blinding the other driver, without the need to activate any buttons or levers.
ABS brakes, traction and stability control.
As expected, the new 208 also features an ABS braking system, which is mandatory by law, and in combination with it are traction and stability systems that ensure greater firmness and grip while driving.
Vision Park 180º
And last but not least, the model features the Vision Park 180º system.
This is a 180-degree camera parking assistance system that shows the surroundings with the rear camera. A great alternative for those who need to park in tight spaces.

The list of accessories for the new Peugeot 208 is extensive. The model includes:
- Super white light bulbs.

Engine, transmission and fuel consumption
The new 208 comes equipped with only one engine option: the 1.6 16V EC5, capable of generating up to 118 horsepower, offering a pleasurable and comfortable driving experience.
Regarding the transmission, there's another surprise. The new Peugeot 208 only offers a 6-speed automatic transmission option, which further enhances the feeling of well-being behind the wheel.
With a more dynamic approach, it's possible to choose between four distinct driving modes: Drive, Sport, Eco, and Sequential.
Drive mode prioritizes performance and functionality.
Sport mode offers a considerable boost and brings dynamic handling to the vehicle.
Eco mode is best suited for fuel economy and should be prioritized for urban use.
Finally, in sequential mode, the driver takes control of the machine and performs gear changes using the + and – levers.
When fueled with ethanol, the new 208 achieved average fuel consumption figures of 7.1 km/L in the city and 12.7 km/L on the highway.
With gasoline, the average fuel consumption improved. In the city, the model achieves 10.8 km/L, and on highways, the average is 15.3 km/L.
