Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2021: Find out what's new

It's no coincidence that the manufacturer is calling the new Pajero Sport the New Legend. The changes are so significant that we can say it's literally a new car.

Curious to know what's new? Then... Let's go!

Improved design

As expected (and desired by many), the main design novelty is found at the rear of the SUV.

The taillights became smaller and less protruding than in the previous version. In addition, the model gained a new rear wing resembling a shark fin antenna. The good news is that the aesthetic changes didn't stop there.

At the front, there's a new grille that really catches the eye. The bumper has been redesigned, and the alloy wheels also feature a new design.

Design
The design of the 2021 Pajero Sport has been improved.

The headlight assembly was split into two parts, which was a pleasant surprise. Now the fog lights are also equipped with directional beams that follow the steering wheel to illuminate the road as the vehicle changes direction.

Comfort and space are highlights.

The interior became even more sophisticated and technologically advanced with the adoption of a digital dashboard. The doors also received new panels, making them even more refined.

With the driver's comfort and safety in mind, the center console has been redesigned to improve usability and legroom for those traveling in the front seats.

Conforto
Comfort is a highlight.

The two rows of seats continue to comfortably accommodate passengers. In the third row, the extra seats can be folded completely flat to the floor without taking up any space in the trunk, which boasts an impressive 971 liters of capacity.

Technology attracts attention.

The first thing that immediately catches the eye from a technological standpoint is the eight-inch multimedia center with a touchscreen. It's more modern than its predecessor and has a system capable of supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, including USB and HDMI inputs.

The center console has a 120-volt outlet for charging a wide variety of electronic devices.

The panel is now a 100% digital display and features 3 different design options for displaying information.

The 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport also features a smartphone app that can be used to perform functions such as remotely turning on the headlights, locating the vehicle, locking and unlocking the doors, alerting if the car is unlocked, monitoring fuel consumption, and even opening the trunk.

Tecnologia
Technology surprises

Combining safety and technology, the 2021 Pajero Sport features an automatic rain sensor that activates the front windshield wipers with speed adjustments, improving driver visibility.

Following the trend of other models from the brand and other SUVs available on the market, there is also the Start/Stop system which does not require the use of a key.

And given its size, it's only fair to have some help when maneuvering, right? That's why the model also features a rear-view camera system and parking sensors both front and rear to make various maneuvers easier.

excessive security

Just as it's packed with technology, the 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport also excels when it comes to safety.

To begin with, the SUV features an active traction and stability control system that ensures better grip in a wide variety of situations.

Another very important feature is the BSW system, which monitors blind spots and displays visual and audible warnings in the rearview mirrors indicating the presence of vehicles in the blind spot area.

Segurança
This model is one of the safest in Brazil.

Another very interesting new feature is the UMS system. It is a system for preventing unintended acceleration.

This system prevents acceleration through audible alarms and direct action on engine torque, reducing the chances and danger of hitting obstacles up to 4 meters in front of or behind the vehicle if the driver accidentally presses the accelerator when the vehicle is stationary or moving at speeds up to 10 km/h.

The 2021 Pajero Sport also features an adaptive cruise control system that maintains a pre-set speed and keeps a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, even when braking or accelerating.

Another safety system is the autonomous braking FCM, which helps prevent frontal collisions or reduce damage in the event of a collision. inevitableThe system works with its own radar.

There are also systems that assist with starting on ramps and that help with control on ascents and descents, making driving on inclined terrain even safer and more functional.

Another safety feature is that the new SUV also has a rear traffic alert system that is automatically activated when the driver engages reverse gear.

The system emits an audible signal, displays a message on the dashboard, and illuminates a light on the side where an approaching vehicle is located. It's a great technological option for preventing incidents in garages and parking lots.

And last but not least, it's necessary to list the airbag system. The model features front airbags, side curtain airbags for the second and third rows of passengers, side airbags, and a knee airbag for the driver.

Motorization

The 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has the same engine under the hood as the L200 pickup truck.

This refers to the 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine with 190 horsepower and 43.9 kgfm of torque that equipped the previous version of the SUV.

However, there are new features in terms of transmission, which remains automatic but now has eight gears. This ensures better acceleration and greater efficiency. The system is designed to... sports exchanges and with faster responses to your needs.

Motor
Powerful and economical engine.

The model also features a system called Super Select II Traction, which was tested in the Dakar Rally. The system, controlled from the console, offers an option for each type of terrain or distinct situation.

The SUV also features a rear differential lock that transmits engine torque to both rear wheels with the same intensity regardless of the type of grip, which helps to overcome even the most severe obstacles.

As expected, the 2021 Pajero Sport comes standard with a 4x4 drive system with low range. After all, the model was created in the most hostile environments imaginable.

Handling

The chassis is another highlight of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 202. With high torsional and flexural strength, it guarantees the robustness needed to withstand the challenges of streets, roads, and off-road situations.

The suspension offers excellent flexibility, thanks to its Double Wishbone system at the front and a rigid axle at the rear.

The approach and departure angles and lateral tilt also allow for driving on different terrains. The approach angle is 30º, the departure angle is 24.2º, and the lateral tilt angle is 45º.

Another positive point in this regard is the minimum turning radius of 5.6 meters, which makes the vehicle much easier to maneuver. Let's face it, that's necessary for such a rugged SUV.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2021: prices, versions and fuel consumption.

Unlike many SUVs, the 2021 Pajero Sport only comes in two versions. They are:

  • Mitsubishi Pajero Sport HPE: R$ 299,990.00;
  • Mitsubishi Pajero Sport HPE-S: R$ 333,990.00.

The 2021 Pajero Sport has a very good fuel economy, achieving 9 km/L in the city and 11.5 km/L on highways. In terms of acceleration, the SUV reaches 100 km/h in 12 seconds. An excellent average for such a heavy vehicle.

Conclusion

The 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, like many other SUVs, has the mission of challenging the Jeep Compass, the segment leader for some time.

According to experts at Sr. Carros, the chances of increased sales for the model are high, as the vehicle has undergone a complete restyling and offers a number of improvements.
