The Hyundai Nexo uses the most modern propulsion system in the world today.

Thus, this elegant and refined SUV features a hydrogen fuel cell.

Thus, in addition to being a vehicle with great autonomy, the Nexo is also capable of purifying the air while it is running.

Although the use of hydrogen as an alternative to fossil fuels and electricity itself is touted as the future of the automotive industry, this is still a long way off.

As we've already shown you, many car manufacturers are abandoning fossil fuels.

Thus, we will soon have a large number of 100% electric vehicles on the streets.

However, while electric vehicles are gaining ground, hydrogen-powered vehicles are starting to emerge.

Therefore, it is possible to state that electric vehicles will not have as long a lifespan as combustion engine vehicles.

And without a doubt, the vehicles that will dominate the world are those powered by hydrogen, as is the case with the Hyundai Nexo!

If you're looking for a vehicle with great range and that's also environmentally friendly, the Nexo is an excellent option for you.

So, to bring you as much information as possible about the vehicle, our experts have produced some very special content.

Hyundai Nexo: Hydrogen Car

The Hyundai Nexo's great range is only possible due to the technology used as its energy source: hydrogen.

Although the model also features an electric motor capable of delivering 163 horsepower, it has one major difference.

It uses hydrogen cylinders instead of the batteries found in the electric 100% models.

Thus, the energy obtained through the chemical reaction of hydrogen with oxygen in the atmosphere results in clean water, instead of pollutants.

Therefore, in practical terms, it's possible to say that Nexo helps to clean the air!

Another great advantage is that the Nexus doesn't need to be plugged in for hours to charge.

It only takes a few minutes to fill the hydrogen cylinders, which have a capacity of 156 liters at a single station, giving you a range of 900 km.

Furthermore, Nexo makes use of various natural materials in its construction.

Paints made from soybean oil and bioplastic extracted from sugarcane are used in various components of the SUV's cabin.

In other words, the nexus is truly a model that thinks sustainably.

How does the Hyundai Nexo work?

The Hyundai Nexo was launched in 2018 and at the time had a range of "only" 666 km.

But that wasn't enough for Hyundai, which, from the launch onwards, invested heavily to make the model more fuel-efficient, yet without sacrificing power.

Thus, after 3 years of extensive research and development, the model was able to break a true autonomy record.

The person responsible for driving the model towards the record was Ray Brendan Reeves' driver.

Aboard the Nexo, he made a trip between Melbourne and Silverton, Australia, resulting in a record range.

According to the manufacturer, the trip took 13 hours to complete at an average speed of 66 km/h.

The first low fuel warning appeared after driving 686 km.

However, the vehicle still had a range of just over 200 km.

Thus, during the journey, the SUV consumed 6.27 kg of hydrogen, with an average of 0.706 kg per 100 km.

In this way, he purified more than 449 liters of air during the trip.

Enough for more than 30 adults to breathe in during a day.

Understanding how the Hyundai Nexo engine works

Refueling the Nexo is very similar to refueling a car with ethanol or gasoline.

As soon as the hydrogen enters the car, it is stored in a pressurized tank.

Then, from there, it goes to a fuel cell.

In this cell, hydrogen meets oxygen, they mix, and pass through catalysts.

The catalysts then transform the mixture into electrical energy.

And it is this electrical energy that is responsible for powering the Nexo.

But hold on, there's more.

Through its exhaust, the Nexo releases only water vapor, helping to purify the air it passes through.

In other words: technology working for the environment.

What is the price of the model?

Whenever we talk about a particular model and its attributes, a very common question comes up:

So, how much does the Hyundai Nexo cost?

The model's price is currently set at US$$ 70,000, equivalent to R$$ 350,000 at present.

Nexo buyers are entitled to a warranty of 160,000 kilometers or 10 years.

Ultimately, this is the timeframe for the hydrogen technology components to function properly.

Because, after that period, the system's efficiency begins to decrease.

Although it is considered a desirable technology, unfortunately we still don't have a date for when this model will arrive on the Brazilian market.

What are the advantages and disadvantages: Hyundai Nexo Review

Apparently, the nexus has only advantages, doesn't it?

However, we can tell you right now that's not the case.

Although it may be hard to believe, the model also has disadvantages, as we will show below.

Advantages

Now, our experts will list for you the main advantages of the Hyundai Nexo.

Sustainability

Sustainability has been paramount in the automotive industry in recent times, and the fact that Nexo does not generate pollutants is indeed a major advantage.

But it's important to keep in mind that although the Nexus doesn't emit pollutants while running, some kind of environmental damage occurred at some point during its manufacture.

However, the fact that it cleans the air while running ends up neutralizing the CO2 emitted during its production.

Therefore, Nexo is considered a green vehicle, meaning it is environmentally friendly.

Quick refueling

This is a significant advantage of the Hyundai Nexo.

Refueling is very similar to that of combustion engine vehicles; simply go to the gas station, connect the hose, and in just under 5 minutes the refueling is complete.

Thus, unlike electric cars, there's no need to wait hours for the charge to be complete.

Autonomy

And the main advantage of the model is its great autonomy.

Moreover, the issue of autonomy is an advantage not only of the Hyundai Nexo, but of all hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Certainly, in the near future, we will encounter hydrogen-powered vehicles with a range exceeding 1000 km.

Disadvantages

And as we mentioned, the model also has some specific disadvantages.

But this only happens because it relies on a technology that is still new.

So, let's check out what the "negative points" of the Hyundai Nexo are.

Difficulty refueling

The main disadvantage of the Hyundai Nexo today is the difficulty in refueling it.

This is due to the fact that hydrogen refueling stations are still rare.

Even in countries where hydrogen-powered vehicles are already a reality, this is the main complaint of owners of this type of car.

However, with the popularization of vehicles, new refueling stations will emerge.

Price

The price is another drawback.

Because it is a relatively new technology, the costs for both producing hydrogen as fuel and for the vehicles themselves are still high.

Therefore, the Hyundai Nexo, even abroad, is not yet for everyone.

But, as with the scarcity of gas stations, with the popularization of technology, prices naturally go down.

System expiration date

That's another disadvantage of the Hyundai Nexo.

The operational capacity of the hydrogen vehicle system is ten years.

After this period, the system begins to lose efficiency.

But like the other disadvantages mentioned, with the popularization and increased production of the system, this is something that will certainly be resolved.

Hydrogen-powered cars are the future!
