New features of the 2021 Fiat Uno
The 2021 Fiat Uno arrives squeezed between the Mobi and Argo. The compact car no longer enjoys the tranquility it had when it was launched in the seemingly distant year of 1999, when it was Fiat's only compact model in Brazil and didn't have a large number of rivals in its category. However, times have changed, and the fight to remain competitive is fierce.
- Category: Hatchback;
- Average new price: R$ 50 thousand;
- Average price used: R$ 30 thousand;
- Recommended version: Fiat Uno Way 1.3;
- Average city fuel consumption: 10 km/L;
- Average fuel consumption on the highway: 13 km/L.
Few people remember that it's been over 10 years since the second generation of the Uno underwent a restyling process.
Remodeled in 2009, this remarkable little car brought a concept of customization to the popular segment with various options for accessories, colors, and stickers of questionable taste.
The Uno has always been a success story, but it has lost some of its appeal over the years.
Gradually, rivals like the Chevrolet Onix, Ford Ka, and even its younger sibling, the Fiat Mobi, made its life much more complicated.
Now that the model is squeezed between the Mobi and the Argo, many claim that Fiat has stopped looking at it with affection, which is not true.
So much so that in today's article, we're going to show you what's new in the 2021 Fiat Uno and why it should still be considered a good option. Let's go?

Fiat Uno 2021: details
The 2021 Fiat Uno maintains the same style that has been used since 2017, when it underwent its last visual update.
In this way, the Fiat hatchback features large, single-parabola headlights with some aesthetic elements alluding to the model. Those who like the model claim they are "easter eggs".
This type of finish is widely used on both the exterior and interior of vehicles, and is a feature that has been nicknamed "round square."
The front of the model is high and the grille has two levels, as does the bumper with a mix of lines and moldings, which although it's a crazy combination was well received.
The taillights are transparent and display the same unique aesthetic elements as the Uno, while the bumper has a more robust shape, even achieving a sporty profile on the Sporting version, complete with a chrome exhaust and air diffuser.
Also visible on the exterior are rear parking sensors, as well as a reversing camera.
The vertical pillars give the car a robust look that can be further customized in the sports version, from the side stripes to the pillars themselves.
Inside, the 2021 Uno has a steering wheel that's quite large for the size of its cabin. The air vents are nice and functional.
The plastic materials are full of easter eggs, reducing the negative impression.
The instrument cluster offers good visualization of information, especially from the on-board computer, which is quite comprehensive and has even gained new functions, as we will see later.
The windows are low, giving the driver more visual freedom, but the car seems a bit smaller. For those in the back, the space is a little cramped, after all, the wheelbase is only 2.37 meters.
The trunk has good space, and the new floor mat has opened up a little more room, providing an additional 10 liters.
Overall, the 2021 Uno maintained its individuality compared to the rest of the Italian automaker's model range.
The new features of the 2021 Fiat Uno
The 2021 Fiat Uno doesn't feature any specific new models.
In 2020, the only change was the return of the Way version, which tends to disappear and reappear from time to time.
However, it's important to highlight that the Italian brand's thirty-year-old hatchback retains a number of features and an equipment package that are quite appealing and considered key to boosting sales again.
Just for the sake of curiosity, in 2020 the Fiat Uno was the 29th best-selling vehicle with a total of 22,942 units registered.
Ready to discover everything the 2021 Uno has to offer? Let's go!
Exterior design
The 2021 Fiat Uno continues to attract attention.
As mentioned, the model received a new front design, more modern and with plenty of personality.
Within this new exterior design, the hatchback features new bumpers and a front grille, which further accentuate its contours.
Unique interior
The interior of the 2021 Uno is also unique.
Designed with bold cuts and enveloping finishes, the Fiat Uno's seats are able to provide an even more comfortable experience for all occupants.
The highlight here is the split-folding rear seat, which, in addition to comfort, provides practicality and space when needed.
Security elevated to the extreme.
In the 2021 Fiat Uno, safety is a top priority, which is both positive and necessary, especially since Brazil has one of the most violent traffic situations in the world.
We're going to show you all the systems and components that work together to enhance the model's safety. Shall we begin?
Lane Change System
The Lane Change system activates the turn signals five times when the driver presses the turn signal lever in the direction of overtaking.
This ensures greater visibility for those behind, thus reducing the chances of an accident.
ESS System
In the event of more abrupt braking, the ESS system kicks in.
He is responsible for turning on the hazard lights along with the brake lights, which provides greater safety for everyone behind.
Follow Me Home System
To offer more comfort and safety, the Follow Me Home system keeps the lights on in the 2021 Uno for a short period after the car is turned off.
The system was designed to offer more safety and comfort when disembarking in a dark or difficult-to-access location.
Traction control
At the first sign of low friction between the wheels and the road, the Fiat Uno's traction control system kicks in to compensate for the lack of grip.
The system is responsible for transferring torque between the wheels and ensuring maximum possible grip.
ASR System
To handle wet or slippery floors more safely, Fiat Uno 2021 features the ASR – Anti-Spin Regulation system.
This system prevents the wheels from slipping or spinning, which reduces tire wear. This ensures greater driving safety and a longer lifespan for the tires.
ESC System
In case of risk or sudden emergency maneuvers, the ESC – Electronic Stability Control system of the Fiat Uno is able to identify the danger and stabilize the car by braking the wheels individually.
This is yet another technology that guarantees comfort, peace of mind, and of course: safety and stability.
Hill Holder System
To make starting on inclines and declines easier, the 2021 Uno features the Hill Holder system, which is simply a hill start assist.
This technology keeps the brakes engaged until the wheels have enough power to start moving.
Dual airbags
The Fiat Uno features dual airbags, designed to protect occupants in the front seats.
Parking sensors and reversing camera
And to conclude our section on the safety features of the 2021 Uno, we have the rear parking sensors combined with the reversing camera.
Through audible alarms, parking sensors help the driver to "predict" any obstacles in the road.
And the icing on the cake is the rear-view camera. The moment reverse gear is engaged, the image of the rear is projected onto the Mopar multimedia system, ensuring safer and more functional maneuvers.
Technology and connectivity
Another very positive aspect of the Fiat Uno is its technology and connectivity capabilities. With a range of features, the model appeals to those who enjoy technological gadgets and electronics.
Mopar Multimedia Center
The first technological item is the Mopar Multimedia Center.
Featuring a 6.2-inch LCD touchscreen, it boasts many features and functions. These include:
- AM/FM radio;
- Auxiliary entrance;
- USB input;
- Integrated iPod port;
- GPS navigation system;
- Bluetooth connection;
- Voice recognition;
- Rearview camera view.
The multimedia system was designed to improve the safety and experience of the driver and passengers.
Tilt Down System
When reverse gear is engaged in the Fiat Uno, the Tilt Down system automatically adjusts the rearview mirror downwards, assisting when parallel parking.
LCD display on the panel
The LCD display on the dashboard is a rather pleasant new feature.
With the instrument panel's high-resolution 3.5'' TFT screen, you can access all the vehicle's functions in a practical and even more modern way.
The screen displays odometer readings, travel time, fuel consumption, tire temperature, and tire pressure. It's literally a lifesaver.
Camera in the rearview mirror
Another feature that has been gaining prominence in Fiat models is the rearview camera in the rearview mirror.
Featuring a small 3.2″ LCD screen, the Fiat Uno's rearview mirror displays images from the Mopar reversing camera, while the parking sensor alerts the driver to potential obstacles during reversing maneuvers.
Multifunctional steering wheel
The Fiat Uno's multi-function steering wheel is an attraction in itself.
With this equipment, the driver is able to activate radio controls, answer and make calls, access the on-board computer, as well as adjust the height, providing a very practical driving experience.
Folding knife key
The modern Fiat Uno flip key locks and unlocks doors and trunk, opens and closes windows. All remotely, with practicality, dexterity, beauty and of course: technology.
Air conditioning
Who doesn't like a bit of coolness? In a tropical country like Brazil, having a car with air conditioning isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.
The good news is that the 2021 Uno is able to fulfill this need masterfully, thanks to its functional analog air conditioning system.
With it, drivers and passengers can cope with the high temperatures that plague Brazil year-round.
HCSS System
The HCSS system is capable of eliminating the need for an auxiliary tank.
Using gasoline for cold starts when the vehicle is fueled with ethanol provides greater ease and convenience in everyday use.
Airbags provide cushioning in frontal impacts, preventing the driver and passenger from suffering abrasions in the event of an accident.
Economics taken seriously
The Fiat Uno has always prioritized fuel economy, and this became even more evident in the 2021 version.
The first point that helps with fuel economy is the city function, which makes the vehicle lighter during maneuvers when activated. This ensures simpler maneuvers and less wear and tear on the engine and tires.
The second point is the use of green tires.
Green tire technology not only helps reduce fuel consumption, but also increases tire durability, contributing to environmental conservation.
Engine and fuel consumption
The entire 2021 Uno range features new GSE Firefly 1.0 and 1.3 engines. Let's talk a little about each of them.
GSE Firefly 1.0 engine
The cheaper versions of the 2021 Uno feature under the hood a GSE FireFly 1.0 engine with three in-line cylinders, aluminum block and cylinder head, two valves per cylinder, electronically managed valve timing, exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head, and cold start without a separate fuel tank.
Version 1.0 is fitted with special cushions capable of filtering out noise in a fairly satisfactory manner.
The cooling system is also new, as is the battery protection system and energy recovery via the alternator.
The engine uses low-viscosity oil to reduce friction and provide less drag to the pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, rings, and other moving parts.
The engine is capable of delivering 72 horsepower with gasoline and 77 when fueled with ethanol. The torque is 10.4 kgfm and 10.9 kgfm, respectively.
Regarding the transmission, there is only the option of a five-speed manual.
GSE Firefly 1.3 engine
The other engine option for the 2021 Uno is the Firefly 1.3 from FCA's GSE family.
It has four cylinders in line and also two valves per cylinder, totaling 8.
It employs the same technologies as the 1.0, but due to its architecture, it has characteristics that are far removed from the lower-end option, presenting itself as smoother in operation and response, since it needs more revolutions to obtain good torque at lower speeds.
This engine option delivers 101 horsepower with gasoline and 109 with ethanol. Torque figures are 13.7 kgfm and 14.2 kgfm respectively. The Firefly 1.3 appears as the most powerful option for the 2021 Fiat Uno.
The transmission is also a five-speed manual.
Performance and consumption
The performance of the 2021 Uno is quite satisfactory.
Equipped with a 1.0 engine, it is capable of reaching 100 km/h in just over 12 seconds and has a top speed of 157 km/h.
With the 1.3 engine under the hood, the compact car takes only 9.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h and achieves a top speed of 178 km/h.
Consumption is also enjoyable.
In the city, the consumption figures are as follows:
1.0 engine: 9.2 km/l with ethanol and 13.1 km/l with gasoline.
1.3 engine: 9.2 km/l with ethanol – 12.9 km/l with gasoline
On the road, the Uno's fuel consumption is as follows:
1.0 engine: 10.4 km/l with ethanol and 15.1 km/l with gasoline.
1.3 engine: 10.1 km/l with ethanol and 14.0 km/l with gasoline.
