The more a car appeals to people, the greater the chances that it will cost a little more, simply because it pleases the crowd.

When we talk about car prices, one thing is more than certain: the market for pre-owned and used vehicles is much fairer than the market for brand new cars. 

It's important to point out that this doesn't mean these cars are bad; they're just expensive for what they offer when they're new.

The first model on our list of cars that aren't worth the price is the Honda HR-V.

The famous SUV from the Japanese automaker has been losing momentum over the years simply because the competition is getting tougher and tougher. 

The SUV market is quite competitive, and consumers are realizing that the HR-V isn't worth the price they're charging for it, and you don't even need to leave the dealership to notice that.

Just look at its factory sibling, the Civic. Both are very similarly priced, but the Civic is far superior, from its build quality to its standard features and finish. 

Continuing with our list of cars that aren't worth the price, we now come to the little Up!

If we analyze Up! sales, it's easy to see that it's one of the German automaker's least successful cars, and the reason is more than obvious: its price!

The entry-level version of the Up! costs around R$50,000, approximately R$15,000 more than competitors like the Mobi and Kwid, for example. 

If the buyer prefers to buy a car from Volkswagen itself, it is possible to buy a Fox, which is much larger and has a 1.6 engine, for about "only" R$ 5 thousand more than the entry-level version of the compact car. 

Without a doubt, Volkswagen did a great job building it. After all, the model is equipped with modern and efficient engines, but unfortunately, it's far too expensive for what it offers. 

The Chevrolet Tracker has been highly praised by experts, and rightfully so, as the car is good and high-quality, but its price is very steep. 

Following the same pattern we showed with the HR-V, the entry-level version of the Tracker costs R$85,000 while the top-of-the-line version of the Onix Plus costs R$80,000. 

It's important to note that the SUV uses the same platform and engine as its smaller sibling, and it doesn't yet have all the standard equipment that the Onix Plus has.

If you search in FIPE table You'll notice that the full version hits the R$ 135 thousand, which is a lot of money. Therefore, it's safe to conclude that the Chevrolet Tracker isn't worth what it costs. 

Here we have another classic case of an expensive car that isn't worth the price.

The Fiat Doblò is a very old design that hasn't been updated, uses an old and inefficient engine, only comes with a manual transmission option, and has a simple finish. 

With all this, it becomes very difficult to justify the price of almost £100,000 charged for it. Not even its seven seats or high cargo capacity can explain its price. 

For comparison purposes only, the Chevrolet Spin, which can also carry seven passengers and offers an automatic transmission, is cheaper than it. 

Furthermore, the Doblò is always present on lists of cars that may be discontinued. 

When it was launched, many wanted to compare the Yaris with the Corolla, something very difficult to do, mainly because of the very different driving experiences of both. 

Today it's noticeable that the Yaris is much closer to its younger sibling, the Etios, than to its older sibling, the Corolla. And it's in the entry-level versions that we can see that the Yaris isn't worth what it costs. 

The price difference between the Etios X and the Yaris XL is around R$14,000, and both use the same manual transmission and engine, as well as the same safety and comfort package. 

Therefore, it's entirely fair to include the Toyota Yaris on this list. 

The new generation of Fiat The Uno Way hasn't undergone a major redesign in over 10 years. In that time, only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes have been made. 

The compact car, which has a history of good sales and several qualities, is now not worth what it costs. 

The top-of-the-line version with the 1.3 engine is sold for around R$ 55 thousand. If you had said five years ago that a Uno would reach that price, people would have laughed in your face.

The Mobi, which uses the same platform, can be bought for about R$ 20,000 less. That's a huge difference. 

When it underwent profound changes compared to the previous generation, many people didn't imagine that the prices of HB20 They could have gone up so much, but unfortunately that's what happened. 

The most expensive version is the Diamond Plus adventure model, which features an automatic transmission and a 1.6 engine, costing around R$ 78 thousand, but it doesn't have any significant changes in safety equipment or standard features. 

Seen by many and touted as popular by the manufacturer, the adventure version of the HB20 shouldn't cost that much. 

This is another classic case of cars that aren't worth the price!

The Fiat Strada is full of quality, both mechanically and visually. No one can deny that. 

Even with the arrival of the new generation, we will still see the old model being sold in dealerships for some time, at prices that are unlikely to drop. 

With the new, completely redesigned Strada, we still have the Adventure CD 1.8 version available on the market, which, even equipped with standard features and a double cab, costs around R$83,000.

Is the fully equipped Strada legal? YES. Is the fully equipped Strada worth the price? No! Especially now that a new generation has just arrived.

The new generation of the model arrived on the market with very high prices. Even though it has evolved considerably, those who understand and appreciate the Japanese automaker's cars have been turning their noses up at the CR-V. 

With a 1.5 turbo engine producing 190 horsepower, packed with standard features and safety equipment, the CR-V costs on average R$ 205 thousand. 

At that price, it's possible to find competitors on the market that are similar in terms of standard features, looks, and superior performance, such as the Chevrolet Equinox and the Volkswagen Tiguan. 

By charging this price, Honda ends up strengthening the competition. It's practically shooting themselves in the foot. 

And here we have the champion of our list of cars that aren't worth the price. 

It's a complete and high-quality model. The SW4 sells like hotcakes and easily beats all its competitors. That's why the Japanese automaker can charge whatever it wants for it. 

Any of its competitors costs significantly less. Just for comparison, even within the same manufacturer: You could buy a brand new Corolla and an Etios and still have money left over.
