Although first presented to the public in 2018, the Virtus was only officially launched in mid-January 2019 with a party in São Paulo where the press could see the model in minute detail. Two years after its launch, the 2021 Volkswagen Virtus arrives on the streets to continue gaining ground.

During 2020, the Virtus had a total of 30,886 units sold and was the fourth best-selling vehicle of the... German automaker, coming in behind only the VW T-Cross, VW Gol, VW Saveiro and VW Polo.
Today, the model's main competitors are the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla.
Last year, the Virtus outsold the Honda model, but lost to the Corolla.
The intention this year is to close the gap with the famous "uncle's sedan," and for that, the model has a series of features that we will show throughout today's article.

The new features of the 2021 Volkswagen Virtus
The first major piece of news we can mention about the 2021 Virtus is that, following its launch and arrival, the GTS version continues, which is also the case in the Polo line.
The sports sedan stands out in terms of aesthetics, such as exclusive bumpers, sports seats, and distinctive wheels.
However, the main difference here lies in the 1.4 TSI engine capable of delivering up to 150 horsepower with a torque of 25.5 kgfm. All this with a six-speed manual transmission.
In addition to the arrival of this new version, the 2021 Virtus lineup also features other new additions.
The Highline version now includes a range of features and accessories, in addition to new 18-inch wheels as optional extras on the GTS version.
But what really stands out is that the Virtus (and also the Polo) shares a number of features with the Nivus, and a classic example of this sharing is the VW Play Multimedia System.
Another new feature of the 2021 Volkswagen Virtus, but not such a good one, was the price increase across all versions, even those that didn't receive any new features.
Design always attracts attention.
The 2021 Virtus continues to exude charm and elegance.
From the outside, the rear is naturally impressive. It's elongated and fits into the design without looking out of place. In fact, it's what allows the model to reach almost 4.5 meters in length.
The rear light assembly with rectangular, split lenses, along with the trunk lid, reminds the observant of the famous Audi A3, although other elements also bear a resemblance to the four-ring model.
On the sides, a strong crease rises to create a natural air deflector over the trunk lids. Additionally, there are upper creases that provide more volume to the sedan's design.
In terms of silhouette, it's fair to say that the model has a smooth rear end with a window that extends over the trunk.
The front is shorter, like at the Polo Without any unique elements, but still beautiful.
The 17-inch alloy wheels on the 2021 Volkswagen Virtus are exclusive, as are the highline logo and other exterior details.
The bumpers feature chrome-like details that look good. The trunk lid has a handle for opening, thus eliminating the need for a button near the gearshift, just like in the Polo.
Pleasant interior and good ergonomics.
Inside, the 2021 Virtus remains spacious and extremely pleasant.
Up front, virtually everything is the same as the Polo, except for the absence of the trunk opening button, as we just mentioned.
However, it is possible to differentiate one from the other. The Virtus features a distinct seat pattern with lighter and softer tones.
Furthermore, the sedan has excellent legroom. This is only possible because of its longer wheelbase. The interior height is reasonable and comfortably accommodates tall people.
The rear seats are fully equipped in terms of safety, and there are two large speakers right behind them.
The backrest is split in two and allows you to carry objects up to 2.60 meters long. A central armrest with cup holders would be welcome, but this feature is not present.
The driving position is excellent, and the ergonomics deserve special mention.
The ceiling features reading lights in the front and rear, as well as cup holders in the front. The glove compartment includes a CD player, SD card slot, lighting, and cooling.
Between the front seats there is an adjustable armrest. The only thing missing from the 2021 Virtus is a sunroof, which would make the vehicle even more valuable.
Connectivity and technology are impressive features.
The connectivity and technology incorporated into the 2021 Volkswagen Virtus are impressive.

In addition, the navigation map can be projected directly onto the screen, making it easier to view and avoiding any kind of distraction.

Through it, it is also possible to select different media types (CD, SIM card, Bluetooth, auxiliary input and USB), operate the phone and the entire navigation system.

The Kessy System unlocks the vehicle by simply bringing the key close and starts the engine with the touch of a button. It's technology working for comfort and convenience.

Communication can be done via voice or text, in natural language, as if you were conversing with another person.
Did a warning light come on on the dashboard? The assistant is able to recognize the image of the warning light and provide a quick response.
Award-worthy security
In the 2021 Volkswagen Virtus, safety is a key highlight, starting with the Latin NCAP safety test.
The 2021 Virtus achieved the highest safety rating from Latin NCAP, with five stars for both adult and child occupant protection.
Side airbags, the ISOFIX child seat restraint system, and the special steel structure of the modern MQB platform were fundamental to this evaluation.
Furthermore, pedestrian protection was also recognized with the Latin NCAP Advanced Award.
It's not at all absurd to say that the Virtus is safe for both its occupants and the people around them.
Let's now take a look at all the safety components that are part of the vehicle.
Automatic post-collision braking system
Here we have an innovative system that should be seen in many other vehicles in the near future.
The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System automatically applies the vehicle's brakes when it is involved in a collision.
This action is important to reduce residual kinetic energy and prevent another impact that could make the accident even more serious.
Airbags
The 2021 Virtus comes standard in all versions with four airbags: two front and two side airbags.
With their large dimensions, the side airbags protect the head and chest and restrict body movement during an impact, significantly increasing occupant safety.
Fatigue detector
After analyzing the driver's driving behavior, the fatigue sensor is able to determine if the driver's concentration is waning.
If so, it emits a visual and audible warning indicating that it's time to take a break.
RKA System
The RKA system is a tire pressure indicator. It allows you to check if your tires are flat or have a puncture.
In both situations, these are safety measures. After all, the tires are the area of contact the vehicle has with the ground.
Electronic stability control
Electronic stability control prevents the car from losing directional stability in curves or sudden changes of direction.
Upon detecting a loss of control situation, the system's control unit activates the engine and brakes to bring the vehicle back onto its trajectory.
Isofix system
The 2021 Virtus comes standard in all its versions with ISOFIX® and top-tether systems for securing child restraint devices, the well-known car seats.
This system offers greater safety for the family and peace of mind for the driver.
Static conversion light
With your safety in mind, the fog light expands the illuminated area when the car is turning at low speed.
When the headlights are on and the turn signal is activated or the steering wheel is turned, the fog light on the corresponding side illuminates, increasing the driver's visibility.
LED daytime running lights
The LED daytime running lights make your Virtus more visible to other vehicles, in addition to reinforcing the model's modern and futuristic design.
The GTS version is a spectacle in itself.
For those who like a vehicle with a sportier feel, the Virtus GTS could be the ideal solution.
The GTS version offers a sedan disguised as a sports car with a fun and functional driving experience. Let's explore its features now.
