Getting to know Volanty

Volanty is a startup created in 2017 with the goal of transforming the car buying and selling market.

The platform's founders – Maurício Feldman and Antonio Avellar – understood that the automotive market's business model needed to reinvent itself.

It was precisely this concern that led to the processes being reviewed and digitized, reinforcing transparency and security when buying or selling a car.

Now, through a digital platform, customers can access vehicles that have already been inspected and meet Volanty's quality standards.

The service provided by the company also benefits the seller, since the experience that was once long and complex has now become quick and honest.

With specialized service, fair prices, and a guarantee, Volanty ensures a unique and beneficial experience during times of tight budgets.

The company fills a common gap in the vehicle market.

THE enterprise It's yet another company entering the market by filling the gap created by car manufacturers, parking lots, and dealerships that often only think about themselves.

Everyone knows someone who bought a used or nearly new car that had some kind of problem, right?

Just like everyone knows someone, or has experienced the need to sell a car and receive a completely unfair offer for the vehicle.

Well, that doesn't happen at Volanty.

A revolution in the way you sell your car.

As we have already mentioned, Volanty is a functional startup which has two distinct sales promises: in 1 day or in up to 30 days.

The operation works as follows:

Anyone wanting to sell their vehicle with Volanty simply needs to fill out a form directly on the website or through the app.

This form includes information such as make, year, model, and mileage.

Once the vehicle is approved on this form, the company then bids on the car, and if the bid is accepted, the vehicle then undergoes a rigorous inspection process.

Next, the company invests in possible repairs and reprocesses the vehicle, making it possible to offer a mechanical warranty to the future buyer and thus offer a used or nearly new car in excellent condition.

For those looking to buy a pre-owned or used vehicle, access is also available via the website or through the app, allowing users to choose their vehicle and access different payment methods.

Algorithms promoting a fair deal for both sides.

One of the secrets to Volanty maintaining a functional and honest way of operating is keeping a fintech component within its business model.

An algorithmic system is capable of evaluating the customer's profile and offering competitive rates for a purchase that is both functional and secure.

The algorithms used by the startup help with everything from pricing to determining the best buying and selling terms for each customer, making it one of the most attractive options for buying and selling vehicles in Brazil.

Today, Volanty has offices in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

What vehicles can be sold to the startup?

You're probably wondering: Can all vehicles be... sold to the startup?

Our answer is: no!

Today, Volanty only buys vehicles that are in good working condition, and as mentioned earlier, all cars undergo a prior inspection and quality certification process.

The startup buys cars that were manufactured from 2011 onwards and have less than 90,000 kilometers on the odometer, and that have driven, or currently drive, approximately 20,000 kilometers per year.

However, this is not a cause for concern.

Ultimately, the company's experts know that all cars can show minor wear and tear due to use, and this is normal within the evaluation criteria.

The most important thing when putting your car up for sale is being able to document details about the car's condition to communicate transparently with both sellers and buyers.

Armored cars, vehicles for people with disabilities (PCD), vehicles from auctions, vehicles with installed CNG kits, vehicles that have previously been used as taxis, vehicles that have suffered collisions that have compromised their structure as noted in a precautionary report, or those that have been recovered from theft or robbery, are accepted by the company, but only for the purpose of trading in vehicles that are being sold by the company.

Who are the evaluators?

As we have already shown, Volanty values the quality of the vehicles it sells. Therefore, the founders are rigorous about the provenance of the cars that are bought and subsequently sold on the platform.

The assessors are expert mechanics who work for the company and possess technical training and certifications, as well as years of experience in the field.

How is the car appraisal process done?

During the on-site inspection, the following are checked: engine, transmission, clutch, suspension, tires, structure, internal and external condition, and vehicle history.

Based on this evaluation, Volanty confirms whether the car meets its quality criteria and, if so, submits a final price offer for the vehicle.

By accepting the offer, the vehicle remains at the Volanty store, and a precautionary inspection report is requested from a third-party company certified by INMETRO.

The report will analyze the vehicle's structure, auction history, and administrative and financial restrictions. The report's results are available within one business day, and if approved, the startup can then proceed with the sales process.

To take the assessment, you need to bring:

  • Original copy of the annual vehicle registration certificate (CRLV);
  • Spare key;
  • Car manual;
  • Driver's license or identity document.

It's important not to forget to remove your personal belongings from the car.

If he passes the evaluation and you accept the company's offer, he should already be at the store for... to be sold in the near future.

The CRV – Vehicle Ownership Document – does not need to be presented at the time of the evaluation, but it must be submitted completed and with the signature authenticated by a notary public within 2 business days after the approval of the precautionary report if the sale is actually finalized.

In the "We sell for you" option (consignment model), the CRV (Vehicle Registration Certificate) must be delivered completed and with the signature authenticated after the sale of the vehicle.

How is the price to be paid for the vehicle determined?

Volanty has developed a smart calculator that uses an algorithm that is fed daily with classified ad prices, values, and trends in the used vehicle market.

When listing your car for sale, the first thing you'll need to do is provide the make, model, mileage, and year of the vehicle to receive an estimate of the price you could receive for it.

However, the final offer price is only confirmed during an on-site evaluation conducted by our technical experts at one of our stores.

The following are checked during the in-person assessment:

  • Engine;
  • Exchange;
  • Clutch;
  • Suspension;
  • Structure;
  • Condition of the vehicle's interior and exterior.

Based on this assessment, Volanty confirms whether the car meets its quality criteria and, if so, submits a final price proposal for the vehicle.
