Understanding the pros and cons of the Jeep Compass

Have you ever stopped to wonder what the pros and cons of would be? Jeep CompassApparently, it's a perfect car, isn't it? Relaunched in Brazil in September 2016, the SUV showed right away that it wasn't just an improved Renegade, even though it used parts shared with its younger sibling.

Prós e contras do Jeep Compass

It didn't take long for the model to become the segment's favorite. Starting in 2017, the Compass became the best-selling SUV in Brazil and maintains that leadership to this day.

This dominance is very unsettling for competing brands, who have even developed new models and are bringing imported units to Brazil in an attempt to curb the Jeep Compass's dominance.

Just to give an example, between January and November, even with the coronavirus pandemic, the Compass had no less than 46,004 units registered here. A number that is truly surprising.

When analyzing these numbers, many people naturally conclude that the model is unique and extremely functional.

But is that true? Is it really the best SUV in Brazil? And now comes the best question: Is it the ideal model for your daily routine?

To answer all these questions, we've compiled a list of the pros and cons of the Jeep Compass so that you can ultimately decide if this model will meet your expectations.

Shall we check it out?

Pros and cons of the Jeep Compass: What does this model actually offer?

To find out everything the Jeep Compass has to offer, just read our article to the end!

Pro: Design

For many people, the Compass's design should be considered a negative point, since the changes were extremely subtle and almost go unnoticed. However, the truth must be told: The model is beautiful!

Jeep opted for the old and functional philosophy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and kept the Compass looking as good as ever.

Design
Design is always a highlight.

So, in our first point regarding the pros and cons of the Jeep Compass, we can say without a doubt that the design is indeed its strongest point.

Pros: Different engine options

One thing that needs to be highlighted about the 2021 Jeep Compass is that the model has different engine options. This allows the owner to choose between a diesel or flex-fuel engine.

In summary, we can say that before purchasing the Compass, the owner can choose from three different fuel types.

The 2.0 Turbodiesel engine combines strength and power, with 35.7 kgfm of torque and 170 horsepower. It delivers the fuel economy that many people look for in SUVs.

Coupled to this power unit is a 9-speed automatic transmission accompanied by a steering wheel with paddle shifters that provides comfort and functionality.

The other engine option is the 2.0 Flex engine capable of generating 166 horsepower with a torque of 20.5 kgfm, driven by a 6-speed automatic transmission, providing power and comfort for any and all types of adventures.

Pros: Comfort and ample interior space.

One thing that never goes out of style in the Jeep Compass is its spacious interior, which naturally provides great comfort to all occupants.

Conforto
Comfort has always been an attraction.

The SUV can comfortably accommodate up to five adults without any feeling of being cramped. Traveling in this model is an excellent experience, as the tires and suspension seem to make the entire journey smoother, resulting in an extremely pleasant trip.

Pros: Quality of finish

Here we have a point that also draws attention because of its continuity.

Since arriving in Brazil, the Compass has always prioritized the quality of its interior finish. From the door panels to the stitching on the seats and even the plastic accessories: everything in the SUV is of the highest quality.

Over the years, this quality is directly reflected in comfort, as the materials do not undergo expansion and contraction, which can cause a series of uncomfortable noises.

In terms of quality, the Jeep Compass literally blows its competitors out of the water. Perhaps that's why it hasn't lost its sales leadership. Isn't that right?

Pros: Autonomous technologies

Something that deserves to be listed in our list of pros and cons of the Jeep Compass is its high level of autonomous technologies.

The Jeep Compass features a variety of autonomous technologies to make the driving experience more comfortable, intelligent, and safe.

Features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic warning and braking, automatic headlight switching, lane departure warning, and Park Assist system are some examples that make the model more fun and safer to drive.

Pros: Extreme security

When it comes to safety, the Compass doesn't disappoint either.

The first features to be highlighted in this model are the 7 strategically positioned airbags. These include 2 front airbags, 2 side airbags, 2 curtain airbags, and 1 airbag for the driver's knees.

Blind spot monitoring is another standard feature on the Compass, something important for preventing both accidents and incidents.

With good approach and departure angles and 4x4 traction, it's very common for drivers to venture onto dirt roads. That's why the Compass features a reinforced oil pan protector that prevents structural problems that could become real safety threats.

The cross-traffic detector also draws attention with its sensors positioned at the rear of the Jeep that identify and warn of the presence of vehicles when exiting perpendicular parking spaces, such as those in shopping malls.

In addition to all these components, the Compass also features an ABS braking system, electronic traction and stability control that work together, and hill start assist and downhill assist.

All of this allows the driver to literally have the car under control in a wide variety of situations. Something that cannot be ignored.

Pros: Connectivity

Just as it's packed with autonomous connectivity technology, the Compass's technological prowess is also a pleasant surprise. The SUV has a multitude of gadgets that are impossible to ignore.

The first is the Uconnect multimedia system, which features an 8.4-inch touchscreen that can be synchronized with your smartphone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This allows you to mirror a wide variety of apps and stay fully connected during your trip.

Conectividade
Compass connectivity is unique.

Another point involving technology and connectivity is the 7'' TFT instrument panel screen. This is a detail that showcases the quality of the Compass.

The small screen attached to the dashboard provides access to a range of functions and specific information about the car.

The Compass also features an exclusive Beats premium sound system equipped with 9 speakers and a 506-watt subwoofer. This system has the power to play music in high definition.

And finally, still talking about connectivity and technology, the Compass features dual-zone digital air conditioning where passengers and the driver can choose different temperatures for their air vents. It's literally the pinnacle of sophistication.

Pros: Accessories

Continuing with our list of pros and cons Other rather special features of the Jeep Compass include the available accessories with a wide variety of uses that customers can have at their disposal.

The side molding is one of them. Its purpose is to prevent minor damage such as scratches and dents. It's an important item for those who frequent parking lots and busy streets.

Sport pedals are also among the accessories available to riders. Besides being attractive, they are functional as they feature anti-slip details, providing a more secure ride.

For those with an adventurous spirit, there's the option of a roof-mounted bicycle rack and also side bars under the vehicle. This increases cargo capacity and facilitates the transport of various types of equipment.

And last but not least, there's also the trunk mat, which protects the entire interior from various scratches and scrapes.

Pros: Service packages

And last but not least, in terms of the advantages of owning a Compass, are the service packages offered at the time of purchase.

The first The package offered is an additional warranty. With it, the SUV can reach up to 5 years of warranty coverage. These are plans for 12 or 24 months in addition to the factory warranty. It's an economical protection that's worthwhile.

Another very interesting option is customized maintenance. With this package, it's possible to create a maintenance plan with discounts and fixed prices. Personalized plans of two to ten scheduled maintenance services can be included in the Compass financing or paid for with a cash payment.

And last but not least is the tire protection service. As you know, the Compass is an SUV that performs well on all types of terrain, but the tires can suffer.

This service guarantees tire protection against damage and accidents, with guaranteed replacement and 12-month coverage.

Cons: Consumption

After considering all the positive aspects, we arrive at the negative part of our list of pros and cons for the Jeep Compass. And the first point, as expected, is the SUV's fuel consumption.

It's important to make it clear that those buying this model shouldn't be thinking too much about fuel consumption, but it's something that can't be ignored.

Both the diesel and flex-fuel engines have less than ideal fuel consumption averages, both in cities and on highways. Therefore, if you're thinking of buying a Compass, keep in mind that fuel costs may increase.

Cons: Trunk size

Those who buy a Jeep Compass are usually accustomed to having ample space, so complaints about the trunk may not be justified.

Although this model is the champion of SUVs, its trunk of "only" 410 liters may not be enough for some owners.

Porta-malas
The trunk is smaller than the competition.

Even in this aspect, the model falls short compared to some of its competitors that have larger trunks, such as the Hyundai Creta and the Honda HR-V.

Is it a huge problem? Of course not! But it's important to mention, don't you think?

Cons: Expensive parts

And lastly, a negative point is the high cost of parts. Compass owners claim that it's very rare for the model to have problems, but when they do, the parts are usually quite expensive.

However, this is natural and expected since we are talking about an SUV whose top-of-the-line version approaches the R$ 215 thousand. This is the price that ultimately comes with exclusivity.

Conclusion

In the automotive world, there's no vehicle that pleases everyone. That's a myth many people have, and we at Senhor Carros are gradually debunking it by showing you detailed, human, and truthful reviews.

As you saw in the list of pros and cons of the Jeep Compass, the model has many more positive and negative aspects, and even with the negative points shown here, the model remains comfortably in the lead among the best-selling SUVs in Brazil!
