Pros: Distinctive design

Many people disliked the latest facelift that the South Korean hatchback underwent.

However, just as many people disliked it, there are also many who felt the vehicle needed to change.

We at Senhor Carros are fans of change over time, and so with a little calm and patience we've come to the conclusion that the new design of the model is far from ugly.

A classic example of this is the sales figures. In 2020, the HB20 was the second best-selling car in Brazil.

And as many people know, Brazilians don't buy ugly cars. Therefore, we can say without a doubt that the HB20's design is indeed a positive point for the model.

Pros: good performance and fuel consumption

A major highlight on our list of pros and cons of Hyundai HB20 It's about performance combined with fuel consumption.

Even with three different engine options, the HB20 offers good performance in both urban and highway driving.

The driver rarely experiences any difficulties.

The car responds quickly in the city and handles very well on the highway. It's even difficult to realize you're going too fast.

In all engine options, the transmission offers good gear ratios and precise shifts, making driving fun and enjoyable.

And to top it all off regarding the engine and transmission, the vehicle delivers very good fuel economy, whether using ethanol or gasoline.

Pros: Interior space and comfort

Here we have a very important point, especially since it's a hatchback car.

The HB20 had always been comfortable in the front, but there were common complaints about limited space in the back seat.

However, this lack of space has come to an end.

Espaço
The model is spacious and comfortable.

The 2021 model gained almost 5 centimeters more legroom in the back seat, which is a lot.

This provides passengers with added comfort for both short and long journeys.

Since we're talking about space, it's important to mention that although the trunk isn't huge, its 300 liters of capacity allow you to fold down the rear seats completely.

With this, the HB20's cargo capacity exceeds 900 liters.

Pros: Security

In the past, hatchbacks were known for their low price coupled with a lack of safety.

Even the current best-selling Chevrolet Onix was once one of the worst in crash test scores.

Fortunately, that has changed.

Today, the HB20 features a range of systems and accessories designed to ensure the safety of all occupants.

The list is extensive. The model offers: traction and stability control, hill start assist, rearview camera, autonomous braking system, lane departure warning, 4 airbags, tire pressure sensors, and three-point seatbelts.

Anyone buying an HB20 today can be sure they are buying a safe vehicle.

Pros: Handling

The combination of engine and safety features almost automatically gives the HB20 excellent handling.

In addition to these two items, it is necessary to reiterate the work of the suspension.

Although the platform is the same as the previous version, the model received adjustments to the front and rear suspensions.

Segurança
Safety and handling are pleasing.

These adjustments made the HB20 even more stable. Those who drive it say they literally have the car under control.

Therefore, the handling is something that deserves to be praised.

Pros: connectivity

Technology has advanced in our homes, and cars haven't been left behind, especially when it comes to connectivity.

Today, a vehicle that doesn't have gadgets and technological equipment available to it is unlikely to survive, which is not the case with the HB20.

The main connectivity feature of the HB20 is the new multimedia system compatible with Android and iOS phones.

Through it, it is possible to mirror mobile phone applications such as WhatsApp, Spotify, Waze, Google Maps, and many others, as well as receive and make calls.

The system becomes even more complete with USB ports on the console and a multifunction steering wheel that allows control of commands without taking your hands off the wheel.

Pros: Revision costs

Just as important as buying a car is being able to maintain it properly.

It is now known that for a vehicle to retain its factory warranty, it is necessary to have its maintenance services performed within the period stipulated by the dealerships.

This is an expense that should be taken into consideration by anyone wishing to purchase any vehicle.

The good news for those thinking about buying an HB20 is that the model has the cheapest maintenance costs among hatchbacks, and that's something that shouldn't be overlooked under any circumstances.

Cons: Price

Starting with the negative points on our list of pros and cons of the Hyundai HB20, we have the price as a factor that, at first glance, may deter potential buyers.

The model starts in the R$ 48,000 range and can end up reaching R$ 80,000. This is a significant disparity that needs to be analyzed.

It is up to each prospective buyer to conduct a detailed cost-benefit analysis based on their specific circumstances.

Cons: Equipment only available in higher-end versions.

Like many other car models, the HB20 starts out rather bare-bones in its most basic versions.

However, it is important to point out that this is not a defect of the model, but rather a normal practice in the Brazilian automotive market.

Interior
The more expensive the Hyundai HB20, the better equipped it is.

As the versions become more advanced (and more expensive), accessories of all kinds appear, and the car becomes more complete.

However, this should not be considered a barrier when evaluating whether or not to buy an HB20.

Cons: Internal noise and a bit of vibration.

Complaints about internal noises and some vibration were common in previous generations of the HB20.

Even with changes to the vehicle's design and construction, these problems are still present in the new HB20, to a lesser extent than before, but they are still there.

When the engine needs to be revved higher, you may notice the noise entering the cabin. This can be somewhat uncomfortable on uphill climbs or mountain roads.

Regarding vibrations, they only occur when it is necessary to increase the rotation speed, therefore they occur sporadically and not all the time.

Conclusion

When we analyze the pros and cons of any type of model, a common saying around here is that there is no such thing as a 100% vehicle.

There will always be some point where a given vehicle will have some level of failure that does not meet the public's expectations, and the HB20 is no exception.

As you can easily see, the HB20 has far more positive points than negative ones.

Even among the "bad" aspects presented here, two of them are entirely a matter of opinion, concerning the price and the inclusion of accessories.

Therefore, we can say that the HB20 is indeed a great buy, and the model's sales figures confirm this.
