22 – Fiat Marea

So, we begin our list with the dilapidated Fiat Marea, a car that was anything but economical and caused its owners headaches. The Fiat vehicle was discontinued more than a decade ago, failing to achieve success or good sales figures since its launch.
Some called it a "problem car," since you had to completely replace its engine if its timing belt broke. Without a doubt, the Fiat Marea was one of the worst cars ever manufactured in Brazil.
21 – Seat Córdoba

The Córdoba, manufactured by the Spanish company Seat, makes our list due to factors involving its structure and performance. Some of the main problems with the Seat Córdoba, which made it one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil, were the price of its parts and its after-sales service, which made maintenance costs prohibitive.
20 – Volkswagen Jetta

This Volkswagen vehicle loses out in the market without much effort. The Jetta 2.0 has the same value as high-end cars like the Honda Civic.
It's not very economical, getting only 7 km/liter in the city, and even though it's a 2.0 engine, it has a power output of 120 hp, which is less than many cars with 1.6 or even 1.0 engines.
19 – Fiat Freemont

The Fiat Freemont initially had a very good proposition, but the car has a terrible cost-benefit ratio and low performance.
With an automatic transmission, the Freemont only has 4 gears, and the power delivered at very high RPMs results in very weak performance. Therefore, the Fiat Freemont is one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil.
18 – Gurgel

Gurgel Motors S/A was a Brazilian vehicle manufacturer, but it went bankrupt due to a lack of government incentives and high taxation. It had good results with the BR-800 model, even winning a European award and competing head-to-head with rivals in the same segment, such as the Fiat Uno of the time.
However, the other Gurgel models left much to be desired. The Tocantis Jeep had a top speed of 117 km/h and terrible performance, taking 25 seconds to reach 100 km/h and possessing a paltry power output of only 50 hp.
Considering Gurgel's models and their market failure, their cars end up on the list of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil.
17 – Citroën Xantia

We always emphasize here that the French automaker Citroën considers technology one of its strengths in the market. Even in past decades, the Xantia was a very sophisticated car for its time, and even inexpensive.
But what makes it one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil is its difficult and, curiously, expensive maintenance, which left many drivers with headaches.
16 – Chevrolet Blazer

The Chevrolet Blazer is a very different proposition from what we are used to seeing from GM. One of the main reasons that makes this model one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil is its low fuel consumption.
Another factor that led to the car being considered unsatisfactory was its price, which, compared to other models in the same price range, makes it much more worthwhile to consider the competition.
15 – Troller Pantanal

This vehicle is so bad that it has already been through one of the worst recalls in history. The Troller Pantanal was launched in Brazil in 2006 and its production ended in 2008 when Ford bought Troller. In two years, only 77 units were sold.
Besides undergoing a recall due to unacceptable damage to the vehicle, it had terrible specifications. Therefore, its production ended and it became one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil in recent times.
14 – Hyundai Veloster

The Veloster, Hyundai's sports model, has already suffered strong and severe criticism. The car is beautiful, in fact it has a beautiful exterior finish.
However, when we talk about a sports car, it's hard to believe that its engine has 108 horsepower. That's an engine inferior to many popular cars out there, and even though it's a flashy car, it's still one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil.
13 – Ford Mondeo

The Mondeo was a great proposition from Ford; it had a chance to compete head-to-head with the main competitors of the time, such as the Volkswagen Gol, which won the hearts of the public.
The Mondeo had features that made it an excellent car, but Ford positioned the vehicle in a higher class of buyers, increasing the car's price and trying to compete with the strong contenders of the time, such as the GM Omega.
But the result was a sales failure, and the car eventually went extinct.
12 – Kia Carnival

The Kia Carnival is a good proposition, but not good for Brazil. The vehicle's length is not suitable for the country's roads.
But one of the main reasons the Kia Carnival is one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil is its overall cost, which is quite high, and if a part breaks, in addition to the immediate depreciation, the cost will be very high, above normal.
11 – Dodge Polara

When a topic is passed from one person to another, it eventually reaches everyone. And if the topic is something negative, the chances of recovery are practically nil.
And that's what happened to the poor Dodge Polara in Brazil; the car, launched in 1976, had a weak gearbox, a bad engine, inefficient maintenance, and faulty brakes.
Brazilians don't forgive; once the public has given a negative review, there's no going back. It didn't last long before Chrysler withdrew from Brazil.

10 – Lada Laika

The Lada Laika's design was very good, but it wasn't well adapted in Brazil. It was a national flop due to its inability to adapt to the national gasoline fuel, which has 25% of diluted alcohol.
Another factor that makes the Lada Laika one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil was its very high maintenance costs, even though the car was relatively inexpensive.
9 – Fiat Brava

The Fiat Brava is a derivative of the Marea, which has a terrible reputation in the market. This justifies one of the reasons why it's considered one of the worst cars ever manufactured in Brazil: its depreciation due to the bad reputation of its predecessor.
The suspension is another factor that generates complaints, along with a weak engine and difficulties in finding parts, which is why it's quite uncommon to see a Brava on national roads these days.
8 – Daewoo Espero

One of the first Korean brands to try to establish itself in the Brazilian market was Daewoo, whose main offering was the Espero vehicle.
The competition was fierce, with cars like the Omega and Vectra, resulting in poor sales and making it one of the worst cars ever manufactured in Brazil.
7 – Ford Courier

The Courier was a very good pickup truck offering from Ford, essentially a Fiesta with a cargo bed. It was quite small to handle heavy loads, unlike other pickups. Design Unattractive features that hindered sales.
The Courier was a huge failure and it's become quite rare to see it on the roads nowadays; it became one of the worst cars ever manufactured in Brazil.
6 – Chevrolet Veraneio

When it arrived on the Brazilian market, consumers were hesitant; it was a large, robust SUV, good for families and heavy work. But the Veraneio's main audience was the military, becoming a police van and soon after an ambulance.
It was quite rare to see an average consumer owning a Veraneio; gradually it disappeared and became one of the worst cars manufactured in Brazil.
5 – Autolatina

This is one of the few models that is a partnership between two automakers. In this case, Ford and Volkswagen, which was intended to raise its profile and grow above the competition.
The Autolatina gained a reputation as a "workshop car," and the general public viewed the model as a joke. This damaged Volkswagen's image in Brazil, making it one of the worst cars ever manufactured in the country.
4 – Peugeot Hoggar

It's difficult to compete in the small pickup truck segment when the Chevrolet Montana, Volkswagen Saveiro, and Fiat Strada are market leaders.
The French automaker attempted to gain a foothold in this segment with the Hoggar model, featuring a 1.4-liter engine that many considered quite weak, consuming a lot of fuel and offering poor performance even on empty roads.
Normally these small pickup trucks are used for work, but a loaded Peugeot Hoggar makes their performance even worse.
It consumes more fuel than normal, which is already a lot, giving the driver a lot of headaches, which is why it has become one of the worst cars ever manufactured in Brazil.
3 – Volkswagen Variant II

The Variant II did not achieve the success it was expected with the Brazilian public, being one of the worst cars ever manufactured. Produced by Volkswagen, it had a very poor engine and terrible performance.
It was no surprise that in Brazil this vehicle did not achieve great recognition, neither with the general public, nor in sales, which were a complete failure.
2 – Fiat Oggi

In terms of evolution, the Oggi fell behind and became stuck in time, becoming one of the worst cars ever produced in Brazil. The vehicle's transmission is one of the main complaints from current or former owners of the Oggi. They also say that the exhaust noise is unbearable.
The car has a very poor interior length, which is especially bad for families. Even with reasonable fuel economy, the vehicle performs terribly and destabilizes any driver, causing major headaches for its owner.
1 – Volkswagen 1600

Initially, this Volkswagen vehicle quickly became a national joke, earning the nickname "Zé do Caixão" (Coffin Joe). Furthermore, the Volkswagen 1600 was unsuccessful in Brazil and today is considered one of the worst cars ever manufactured there.
Its mechanics are similar to those of the Beetle, with a rear-mounted 1.6-liter air-cooled engine producing 50 hp and 11 kgfm of torque, paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
In short, its performance was terrible; it became just another car in the museum of vehicles that didn't succeed in the national market.
