Peugeot Landtrek. That was the name chosen by the French automaker for its new pickup truck that will be launched in the Latin American market.

The brand's first pickup truck will have the tough task of competing with well-known and established names that dominate the market here, such as the Chevrolet S10, Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok, and even two others. releases The Renault Alaskan and the Hyundai Santa Cruz are coming soon to Brazil. 

According to information from the manufacturer itself, the Peugeot Landtrek will be launched first in Mexico, still in the second half of this year. The pickup truck's arrival in Brazil is scheduled for 2021.

Peugeot's newest pickup truck has a number of features that set it apart from its competitors. 

One of the main attributes of the Peugeot Landtrek is its cargo bed, one of the largest in its segment. In addition, the pickup truck features innovative seat modularity, providing comfort comparable to a [unclear - possibly a specific type of truck or similar]. SUV.

One of the main selling points of the Peugeot Landtrek is its cargo capacity. According to information provided by the manufacturer itself, the pickup truck will be able to carry more than a ton of cargo. Even so, the model is expected to be more geared towards leisure than work. 

The interior of the new Peugeot Landtrek has been meticulously designed, making use of a range of features found in other models of the brand, which allows the pickup truck to offer occupants great comfort on any type of road. 

When it comes to technology, the Landtrek features a range of state-of-the-art technological equipment found in the French automaker's SUVs, such as a control center with a 10-inch HD touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10 GB hard drive.

The vehicle also features an innovative 360º panoramic vision system, entirely based on peripheral cameras, as well as a unique 3D view. This technological addition facilitates parking maneuvers, obstacle detection, and even navigating difficult-to-access paths. 

The rear seats can be folded down, which further increases their space and cargo capacity. 

In terms of safety, the Peugeot Landtrek also does not disappoint. Its design was conceived to offer a high level of safety to its occupants, featuring the best equipment in the segment, such as the innovative Hill Descent Control – a system that allows the vehicle to maintain a low speed and focus exclusively on steering, providing greater control and safety on steep slopes.

Furthermore, the model features TSC – Trailer Swing Control, a trailer assistance mode that automatically reacts to unexpected trailer movements. The Landtrek also comes standard with 6 airbags, ABS brakes, hill start assist, and many other safety features. 

A recently revealed piece of information about the Peugeot Landtrek concerns its engines. The pickup truck will have two engine options available. 

The first is a 2.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, capable of generating up to 210 horsepower with a torque of 32.6 kgfm. Alongside this engine, the manufacturer offers a choice of a six-speed Getrag manual transmission, or a six-speed Punch automatic transmission. 

The second option is a 1.9-liter turbocharged diesel engine capable of generating 150 horsepower with 35.7 kgfm of torque. This engine will only be available with a 6-speed manual transmission. 

According to data provided by Peugeot itself, both engines have an average fuel consumption of 12.8 km/l.

Considering its main Brazilian competitors, the Peugeot Landtrek already has a disadvantage in terms of engine options compared to its main market rivals, which offer the following engines:

Regarding drivetrain, both engine options will feature 4x2 and 4x4 drive configurations. 

The 4x4 drive system will have two usage options: 4x4 H, designed for conventional terrain, and 4x4 L, which will feature a 2.7 to 1 reduction gear, ideal for low-traction terrain or steep climbs. 

Until mid-April, we didn't know how many versions of the Peugeot Landtrek would be available in the Brazilian market. However, as soon as the automaker registered the model with the National Institute of Industrial Property, it became possible to know what its versions would be. 

The Landtrek will have a luxury version with a double cab, and also a single-cab version, aimed at work use.

Until now, some details of the top-of-the-line version had already been revealed by Peugeot itself. Developed with the Chinese company Changan, the mid-size pickup truck will have a luxurious cabin with space for up to six people, to compete with the Toyota Hilux and the Chevrolet S10.

Unlike the double-cab option, the simpler version will have black bumpers and halogen headlights. In addition, this model will also feature a side-mounted spare tire to facilitate access to the cargo bed, as well as tie-down hooks. 

Another point that remains a mystery to many people is the price. We still don't know how much the Peugeot Landtrek will cost, nor where it will be manufactured. 

The Peugeot Landtrek is here to saturate an already crowded market, further increasing competition between brands. With so many options, the consumer should be the one to benefit.
