Fiat Chrysler has unveiled the new 2021 Jeep Compass in Europe.

Although many are unaware, the Italian automaker has a technical partnership with Jeep that yields good results here, as is the case with the Renegade and the Compass itself. 

Apparently, the automaker's philosophy was that you don't mess with a winning formula, as only the most observant eyes will notice the changes to the SUV's exterior (which is a sales leader here):

The main changes are hidden under the hood and in the interior space, with some rather subtle alterations.

The new Jeep Compass will be produced at the automaker's factory in Pernambuco starting in 2021.

The SUV will actually be a Frankenstein, since it will feature the 1.3 turbo engine manufactured by Fiat, which is in the final stages of production at the Betim factory in Minas Gerais. 

The engine, which has been anticipated for some time, is the main new feature of the 2021 Jeep Compass.

As we mentioned, the SUV will have under the hood the new 1.3 Firefly turbo flex engine developed and produced by Fiat. 

The engine, which should also equip some models from the Italian automaker starting next year, promises to be more efficient, delivering higher performance and lower fuel consumption. 

The engine should be offered in a version with up to 150 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic transmission, or with the CVT that is being developed for the 1.3 naturally aspirated engine. This is information that has not yet been released by the manufacturer. 

The brand decided to keep the driving-oriented equipment such as 4x4 traction with driving mode selector and HDC.

According to the manufacturer, the turbodiesel versions will continue to feature the nine-speed transmission. 

The biggest disappointment for many people was the continuation of the aesthetic standard.

Like many other vehicles, the Hyundai Tucson is undergoing a facelift.

We were expecting some changes to the look of the 2020 Compass, but they didn't come. 

Only the most observant will notice the iconic grille with its more pronounced and slightly enlarged vertical openings. 

Another point that underwent an almost imperceptible change is the contours of the fog light bezels and the base of the lower bumper grille, which now comes from the factory in the same gray tone. 

Finally, as we mentioned before, the lights are now LED, and unlike the changes we just discussed, this is something easy to see. 

The interior remains the same as the 2020 model, but with one new feature:

The multimedia center. 

The 2021 Jeep Compass features the new Uconnect Services multimedia system in its center console, with screen options of 7 or 8.4 inches capable of operating a wide variety of integrated services. 

These services include integration with smartphones, smartwatches, and websites; functions such as locking and unlocking doors; sending a destination to the vehicle's GPS; receiving alerts about weather and traffic conditions; and much more. 

Following the eco-friendly trend of many automakers worldwide, the 2021 Compass also features a hybrid version, named Compass 4xe. This version had already been presented and was even available for pre-order, and now it makes its official launch. official premiere. 

The hybrid version features a 1.3 turbo engine that works in conjunction with an electric unit that powers the rear wheels, delivering 240 horsepower and promising fuel economy of around 45 km/liter. 

The new product has already been confirmed for the Brazilian market; however, due to the pandemic, its release has been postponed.

For now, we only know the prices for the versions with the 2.0 engine. The pricing and versions of the 2021 Compass with the new 1.3 engine are still being kept secret by the manufacturer, although they should be released soon.

The model, which was launched just over three years ago, recently reached the important milestone of 200,000 units sold in Brazil alone. Between January and September 2020, more than 33,000 units were registered in the country. 

All this public preference and the presence of a massive package of standard equipment and items makes the Compass the SUV that depreciates the least in the country, thus indicating it as a great option for both personal use and resale. 

According to Alexandre Aquino, the automaker's manager in Latin America, "the Compass is the union of design, technology, and sophistication. Something that most Brazilians look for in a vehicle. That's why it holds and will continue to hold the leadership position in its segment."

Many other models have shown in the past that not messing with a winning formula can be a good idea, and that's what the manufacturer applied to the 2021 version of the model.
