The JAC T60 Plus is a model derived from the T60, and while it may seem somewhat different at first glance, that's the manufacturer's real intention: to make an impact and thus increase sales! As we've mentioned several times here, SUVs are increasingly dominating the Brazilian automotive market.

Therefore, it's natural that new models emerge almost automatically, and the latest one is the T60 Plus!

The model, which represents a radical restyling of the old T60, arrived in Brazil at the end of 2020 already being sold as a 2021 model, along with the also renewed T40 and T50 – both also Plus versions.

The “new” model of Chinese automaker Its main appeal lies in its dimensions, which are similar to those of large SUVs, such as the famous Jeep Compass, but at the price of a compact SUV.

For comparison purposes only, the T60 Plus costs less than a Chevrolet Tracker Premier.

With the goal of bringing you as much information as possible about vehicles, prices, and purchases, today we're going to break down the JAC T60 Plus for you. Let's check it out?

JAC T60 Plus: The visual updates

Of the three JAC SUVs that underwent restyling at the end of last year, the T60 Plus is by far the one that has undergone the most radical, and arguably pleasing, aesthetic changes.

Exterior

Looking at it from the front, it's impossible to see any trace of its predecessor in the SUV. It's important to say that we're talking about a facelift, not a generational change.

The front end has become more squared off and features wide horizontal lines, which naturally conveys a greater sense of width, as well as giving the model a futuristic look (like a car from The Jetsons).

The hood has been raised and now incorporates the brand's logo. The headlight assembly is now divided into two segments.

The boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights are located at the top and are integrated by a beautiful glossy black strip.

Exterior do T60 Plus é diferente e agradável
The exterior of the T60 Plus is different and pleasing.

The low beam, low beam headlight, and high beam headlight are concentrated in projectors that feature halogen bulbs in the center of the bumper, an interesting and different alternative.

Next to the lamps, more centrally located and in LED, are the fog lights. Both are housed in a large black recess that also forms part of the air intake.

It's only possible to tell that the model is an evolution of the JAC T60 when you look at the model from the side.

Pillars A and B, along with the fenders, doors, windows, wheel arches, creases, and side beams are the same. Even the 17-inch wheels remain unchanged (that's what you call knowing how to make the most of your parts inventory).

At the rear, the changes were more abrupt and profound!

The taillights are now integrated not by a chrome bar, but by a functional LED strip that is very attractive.

Those with a keen eye will notice a certain resemblance to the Kia Sportage, and may even make a distant but accurate comparison to Porsche's most recent SUVs.

Without a doubt, the rear of the JAC T60 Plus is the most pleasing aspect of the overall design.

Interior

The interior doesn't present major changes compared to its predecessor, but it deserves positive mention.

As expected, there are some new features, such as a digital instrument cluster, a new, larger multimedia center compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and air conditioning controls.

The finish is of high quality, and there is also the option to choose between seats with synthetic fabrics and leather.

The space is ample. Regardless of whether the journey is short or long, five adults can travel quite comfortably in the front and rear seats of the T60 Plus.

Dimensions

The JAC T60 Plus has generous dimensions. The SUV is 1.66 meters high; 1.80 meters wide; 4.41 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.62 meters.

The model weighs 1365 kg, while its trunk can hold 650 liters. This capacity can be expanded to up to 1210 liters by folding down the rear seats.

The tank holds exactly 50 liters of fuel, as we will see later.

Technology and connectivity

As one might expect from a vehicle manufactured by a Chinese automaker, the list of technological and connectivity features is extensive, even larger than most of its competitors.

An important point to mention here is that the Chinese automakers with the largest market share in Brazil, JAC and Chery, have more complete vehicles than their competitors, and this is something to take into consideration when choosing your car.

That said, it's time to explore all the connectivity features that enhance comfort, convenience, and ease of use for the driver and passengers of the T60 Plus. Let's go!

Multimedia Center

The first item we'll talk about is the 10.2-inch touchscreen multimedia center.

Like virtually all vehicles sold worldwide, it features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems for connecting to different types of smartphones.

Thus, it's possible to synchronize and use mobile applications directly on the head unit, such as WhatsApp, Waze, Spotify, and many others. Just plug it in and connect!

LED Panel

Another technological feature that is both pleasing, interesting, and necessary is the dashboard, which has three screens.

Through them, it's possible to see the speedometer, RPM, and even access the onboard computer, which provides a range of information about the vehicle and the route itself!

In the T60 Plus, the driver is always well-informed and has easy access to the vehicle's wide variety of sensors and systems.

Multifunctional steering wheel

Continuing with the technological features, we have the multifunctional steering wheel, through which the driver can control both information on the dashboard and access the multimedia system.

Painel de led e volante multifuncional agradam
LED dashboard and multifunction steering wheel are appealing.

Furthermore, it is possible to make and receive calls using the controls on the steering wheel. This way, the driver doesn't need to take their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road to access different types of information.

Digital air conditioning

Another item that has actually become increasingly essential is digital air conditioning.

In the case of the T60 Plus, it is dual-zone, meaning it's possible to choose different temperatures for the driver and the passenger next to them, providing greater comfort!

Furthermore, the SUV features rear air conditioning vents, providing greater convenience and comfort to rear seat occupants!

USB ports and 12V sockets

Nowadays we live connected to cell phones, tablets and even laptops, and running out of battery on any of these devices can become a real problem.

With this in mind, JAC has included two 12V power outlets in the center console of the T60 Plus, in addition to front and rear USB ports.

A highly functional and necessary alternative for today's world!

Keyless System

Keyless entry systems are becoming increasingly popular and are becoming more and more common, not just in SUVs.

Thus, following the national and global trend, the T60 Plus features a keyless system that literally eliminates the need for a key.

The sensors recognize the proximity of the key and automatically lock and unlock the SUV's doors, as well as allowing the vehicle to be started via the Start/Stop button.

Remote trunk release

Another feature involving technology, connectivity, and comfort is the remote unlocking of the trunk using the T60 Plus key fob.

With the simple push of a button, it's possible to open the luggage compartment remotely, which, let's face it, is incredibly convenient.

Electric sunroof

And last but not least in terms of technology, connectivity and comfort, the JAC T60 Plus features a modern electric sunroof that ensures sunlight enters during any type of journey.

Teto solar é mais um ponto positivo
The sunroof is another positive point.

High levels of security impress.

As expected, the JAC T60 Plus boasts high levels of safety that impress and please even the most demanding drivers.

This model features systems that some of its competitors lack, and this should be seen as a key advantage when choosing a car to call your own.

Let's now take a look at the main safety features present in the JAC SUV.

6 airbags and ISOFIX system

It's no use. Whenever we talk about safety, the first thing that comes to mind for many people is airbags.

The T60 Plus has a total of 6 airbags. There are two front airbags; two side airbags and two curtain airbags, which aim to guarantee maximum protection for all occupants in case of impacts.

In addition to the famous airbags, the SUV also features the equally famous and essential ISOFIX system, designed to ensure a secure fit for child car seats.

Thus, adults and children are completely safe and protected inside the SUV.

Progressive electric power steering

Although it is a technological feature, electric and progressive power steering should also be seen as a safety feature.

With proper calibration, it is extremely light when the T60 Plus is stationary or at low speeds, allowing for good maneuverability and agility.

As the vehicle gains speed, the suspension becomes firmer, ensuring confidence and safety for the driver.

Traction and stability controls

As is the case in many other vehicles, especially SUVs, traction and stability controls have begun to work together, meaning one helps the other, and this is also the case in the T60 Plus.

Both systems work in sync to keep the vehicle stable, and in case of loss of traction, the brakes can be activated automatically, just as the engine's operating mode can be changed autonomously.

All this to guarantee maximum grip and control!

Tire pressure monitoring system

As many people know, the contact between any and all types of vehicles and the ground occurs through their tires.

Therefore, any problem with the tires puts the safety of everyone inside and around the vehicle at risk.

Sistemas de segurança andam junto à tecnologia
Security systems go hand in hand with technology.

With the goal of preventing any and all types of accidents, the JAC T60 Plus features a tire pressure monitoring system.

When any of the tires loses pressure, a signal automatically appears on the dashboard to warn the driver.

Brake Assist System (BAS)

The brake assist system warns the driver, through audible signals, about the likelihood of a collision or pedestrian accident ahead.

If the driver is unable to brake in time, the brakes are automatically applied to minimize damage or even avoid a collision!

Auto Hold System

The Auto Hold system aims to immobilize the SUV after any type of accident, thus preventing further damage.

It's a technology that's growing in other vehicles, but few models have it yet.

Hill Assist

Hill Assist is a system that ensures the SUV's safety when going up or down steep inclines.

On inclines, the system acts as a hill start assist, preventing the T60 Plus from rolling backward before starting its movement, thus avoiding incidents or accidents with vehicles and pedestrians that may be behind.

On steep descents, the system ensures grip and powerful engine braking, giving the driver complete control of the vehicle.

Follow Me Home System

Who hasn't arrived home at night and struggled to open the garage door? Or been stranded in a street with no lighting?

The Follow Me Home system keeps the headlights on for a period of time until the driver and occupants can enter the house, ensuring brightness and safety.

Static turn signals

Static turn signals help increase safety when making 90-degree turns, such as at intersections.

The system recognizes, through the activation of the turn signal, which way the driver will turn and, accordingly, increases the lighting in that direction, ensuring the safety of the occupants and also of third parties.

LED Daytime Running Lights

And last but not least in terms of safety, the T60 Plus features LED daytime running lights that are automatically activated as soon as the vehicle is turned on.

They aim to ensure that vehicles coming from the opposite direction are able to see the vehicle, thereby guaranteeing safety on streets and roads.

Engine, performance and fuel consumption

After checking out everything the model has to offer in terms of connectivity, comfort, and safety, it's time to get to know the heart of the T60 Plus: its engine!

Motorization

The JAC T60 Plus has a 1.5 turbo 16V DOHC VVT engine under the hood, powered exclusively by gasoline, capable of developing up to 186 horsepower with a torque of 21.4 kgfm.

Just as there is only one fuel option, the SUV also has only one transmission option: the CVT with simulated 6 gears, which can even be controlled by tapping the central lever.

Performance

The T60 Plus's power output is excellent for its segment.

When the engine speeds are below 2000 rpm, the SUV feels a bit sluggish and even slow, but when it reaches its peak torque above that range, it picks up speed and allows the driver to feel all its elasticity.

Motorização e desempenho agradam
Engine and performance are pleasing.

Part of this characteristic is due to the CVT transmission calibration, which is very long, something that is common in Chinese cars.

At least the gearbox provides quick responses when transitioning between the multiple gear ratios.

According to JAC, the T60 Plus goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds and has a top speed of 195 km/h.

Generally speaking, the JAC SUV is more agile than a Compass 2.0 flex, which reaches 100 km/h in almost 11 seconds.

Consumption

And finally, we have fuel consumption.

For a large SUV with a turbocharged engine and not that heavy – after all, it weighs less than 1400 kg in total – the fuel consumption level of the JAC T60 Plus is considered only OK.

With the option of running solely on gasoline, the SUV achieved a fuel consumption of 9.6 km/L in urban driving and 11.2 km/L in highway driving. Admittedly, it could be better.

JAC T60 Plus: Prices and versions

As with many cars sold in Brazil and around the world, the T60 Plus is not sold in just one version, but in two.

However, unlike many of its competitors, the prices between versions are similar and, overall, it has more affordable prices.

The versions and prices of the JAC SUV are:

  • JAC T60 Plus Pack 2: R$ 120,990;
  • JAC T60 Plus Pack 3: R$ 124,990.

The advantages and disadvantages of the JAC T60 Plus

As you've probably noticed so far, the model is packed with features, accessories, and high levels of safety, not to mention the price!

Therefore, it's natural that you might have even had a certain urge to buy a copy, wouldn't you agree?

If you're interested in having a T60 Plus in your garage, but would like to know how the SUV performs in everyday use, just keep reading this article, as we'll now show you all the pros and cons of this model!

Don't miss it!

Advantage: Design

The first point that needs to be clarified here is the design of the T60 Plus. Although it's somewhat futuristic, the model isn't ugly and, let's face it: it's eye-catching!

Whenever a T60 Plus drives by, heads will turn to watch it. To achieve good sales figures, a car, before being good, needs to attract attention, and this JAC SUV does that with mastery and precision!

Advantage: Interior space

As we have shown, the SUV has dimensions advantageous very similar, including to its main competitor: The Jeep Compass.

The T60 Plus boasts a spacious interior that deserves special mention, comfortably accommodating five passengers with dignity, allowing for long journeys without any problems or discomfort.

And since we're talking about space, another point worth highlighting is the trunk, which has a capacity of up to 650 liters, enough to accommodate large families and friends traveling in search of adventure.

Advantage: Comfort

Taking advantage of the interior space, we have the issue of comfort.

One of the most positive and even surprising aspects of the T60 Plus is its level of comfort in both the front and rear seats.

Conforto é vantagem do JAC T60 Plus
Comfort is an advantage of the JAC T60 Plus.

It's easy for the driver to find a comfortable driving position, which is enhanced by the electric power steering.

In the back seats, the ample legroom, combined with air conditioning vents and USB ports, makes journeys more immersive and enjoyable.

Advantage: Handling

The handling is a positive highlight of the model.

The first thing that catches your attention is the softness of the electric power steering and the suspension system.

The steering is so light it almost feels like anesthesia when the model is stationary.

Another point worth highlighting is the SUV's excellent turning radius. Normally, cars of this size are difficult to maneuver, which is not the case with the T60 Plus.

Soft suspensions, on the other hand, suffer a bit in city driving, especially if the asphalt is poor.

However, when put on the road and from the moment it gains speed, the JAC T60 Plus seems to float, bringing a great feeling of pleasure.

Advantage: Finish

One point that deserves highlighting here is the finish of the T60 Plus.

In fact, all Chinese SUVs sold in Brazil have higher levels of finish than the original models sold here!

The T60 Plus has a finish that will greatly please even the most demanding in this regard.

Bom acabamento impressiona!
The excellent workmanship is impressive!

The model features surfaces that are soft to the touch. The center panel is covered in a synthetic leather-like material with visible and meticulous stitching.

The door hinges and buttons are sturdy and show that they are made of high-quality material. The seats can be made of synthetic fabric or leather depending on the version chosen.

Advantage: Large list of equipment.

In its most basic and cheapest version, the T60 Plus comes packed with features, and as we've shown you, the list is quite extensive.

Things get even better when the full version is chosen for a negligible amount of just R$4,000 more. Looking at it this way, it's obvious that the most complete version of the SUV is the best value.

When compared to its competitors, the T60 Plus has the most comprehensive list of equipment available.

Advantage: Security

In terms of safety, the T60 Plus is well-equipped, featuring side and curtain airbags, traction and stability control, tire pressure monitoring, headlight height adjustment, and an engine immobilizer in case of a collision.

It is undoubtedly one of the safest SUVs sold in Brazil.

Advantage: Price

And the last positive point of the JAC SUV is its price. As we've mentioned on several occasions, models of Chinese origin tend to be cheaper, precisely with the argument that this is a lure to attract buyers.

Unfortunately, car manufacturers have to lower prices because of the prejudice that still exists against cars from China. What a shame!

Disadvantages: It's not Flex.

After discussing the positive aspects, it's time to look at the disadvantages that come with the JAC T60 Plus. The first of these is the fact that there is only one fuel option.

As shown, the SUV runs solely on gasoline, which is seen as a disadvantage by many, especially in times of expensive fuel.

To truly compete, ideally the model would be diesel-powered and also offer ethanol as a fuel option.

Disadvantage: Absence of Shift Paddles

Here we have another specific disadvantage of the model. It doesn't have shift paddles, that is, the famous paddles behind the steering wheel for changing gears.

With a CVT transmission and positive performance, being able to change gears on the steering wheel is a rather enjoyable option that can even contribute to better fuel economy.

Disadvantage: Consumption

The third disadvantage of the JAC T60 Plus is its relatively high fuel consumption.

Even when running solely on gasoline, the SUV's performance figures aren't very appealing, and this could be considered a drawback when considering a purchase.

Disadvantage: Market and prejudice against Chinese vehicles.

Although it is a cheaper, safer car with more standard features than most of its competitors, the JAC T60 Plus faces... low market liquidityIn addition to the prejudice Brazilians have against Chinese vehicles.

This is unfortunately a reality that has not yet been overcome (and we don't know if it ever will be).

All of this contributes to the model experiencing a greater depreciation process than its competitors, which directly affects its purchase. A shame, isn't it?

Conclusion

After all our analysis, it's easy to conclude that the JAC T60 Plus is indeed a great car, and if you're thinking about buying a safe, technologically advanced SUV at a good price, it should be taken into consideration!

As we have said on several occasions, there has never been, nor will there ever be, a vehicle that is 100% approved. It is always important to keep this in mind.
