The SUV market has proven to be a rather lucrative environment for automakers, as evidenced by the frequent launches we have been witnessing lately.
In an effort to remain competitive, Ford will launch next day July 13 The new Ford Bronco is a remake of its successful past model, but with many differences, of course!
There's still little information available about the new Ford Bronco, but at Senhor Carros, we've gone looking for what we know so far about what's considered the launch of the year for the American automaker. So, let's check it out?
History of the Ford Bronco
Before the arrival of the new model, the Bronco had five generations, produced between 1966 and 1996, none of which were sold in Brazil. All of them were based on the famous F-Series pickup trucks.
The Ford Bronco experienced a moment of great publicity when the model was used by O.J. Simpson, an American football player, as he fled from the police on June 17, 1994. At the time, Simpson was accused of murdering his ex-wife.
The chase, which covered a total of 96 km, was broadcast live across the US, literally providing free publicity for the model.

New Ford Bronco: First Impressions
Spotted in many places around the world, including Brazil, albeit in a camouflaged manner, of course, the SUV The model that Ford has been testing for some time will finally be officially launched. According to data provided by the automaker itself, the model is expected to compete in the category dominated by the Jeep Compass.
In terms of style, the Bronco appears to be rather robust, reminiscent of the first-generation Land Rover Freelander, with a well-defined silhouette, high roof, and painted black from its pillars down.
The Ford Bronco uses the C2 platform, the same one used by its "brother" Ford Escape, which has a more urban focus. With a more off-road design, the vehicle should attract customers who enjoy a more adventurous feel.
Unique design
Initially, the Ford Bronco boasts a unique design. The most striking feature is its front grille, which literally spans the entire front of the model and features the vehicle's name written across it, complementing the headlights equipped with LED lights.
With its straight lines, hill-climbing spoilers, and large wheels, the Bronco can easily be mistaken for an army jeep.
The engine is still unknown.
Both the engine and the transmission of the new Bronco are still a mystery to many people. Some say that the model will have options for a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 7-speed manual transmission, with the option of 4x4 drive with low range.
For the US market, Ford has several options to choose from, such as the 2.3 Ecoboost, which is also used in the North American version of the Ranger pickup truck and delivers 273 horsepower.
Another option is the 2.7-liter twin-turbo 6-valve engine from the F-150, which has 239 horsepower. There's also a diesel alternative and even a V8 engine, but unfortunately, we haven't been able to access that information either.
Versions of the new Ford Bronco
According to information obtained from specialized forums, the Bronco should initially offer three different versions, aiming to promote changes in the car's personality. The versions would be:
- Modern;
- Classic;
- Custom.
Modern
The Modern version is considered the most basic and standard, with simpler and more functional finishes; it would be a more stripped-down Bronco and consequently cheaper, probably with a manual transmission and without many options in terms of onboard technology.
Classic
The classic option, as the name suggests, nods to the Ford Bronco of the past, leading us to believe that the version will be inspired by the first-generation Bronco, but with a modern appeal. In that case, the inscription "Bronco" could be replaced by "Ford" on the large front grille between the headlights.
Custom
Finally, the Custom version is expected to have a brighter and more sophisticated look compared to the other two versions. Reports indicate that the model will feature a more refined interior finish, as well as more specific exterior changes, such as a chrome grille, specific decals, and a different wheel design.
Another release delayed by the coronavirus.
The new Ford Bronco was supposed to be launched in June during the Detroit Auto Show; however, coronavirus pandemic caused the event to be cancelled.
With that, Ford announced the launch date for July 9th, which coincidentally fell on OJ Simpson's birthday. After the gaffe, the automaker changed the date to July 13th.
Ford Bronco in Brazil
The arrival of the Ford Bronco in Brazil is not yet confirmed, but since the model will be produced in Mexico, the chances of it coming to Brazil are high.
For the Latin American market, Ford has a model called the Baby Bronco, a version with a shorter body and only two doors that looks very much like a small Jeep.
In Mexico, the engine options will be a 1.5 turbo with 180 horsepower and another 2.0 turbo, but with 250 horsepower.
From all indications, the longer, four-door configuration will likely only be sold through imports, as the Baby Bronco is part of the utility vehicle line that Ford aims to market in Latin America along with the Territory and the Escape.
Ford Bronco Prices
In the US, the specialized press states that the Bronco will be priced between the Ford Escape and the Ford Edge, which start at US$26,000 and US$32,000 respectively.
Here in Brazil, the Ford Bronco should take the place of the Fusion, which will be discontinued at the end of 2020, so the price range will likely be between R$130,000 and R$150,000.
Conclusion
Although very little is known about the new Ford Bronco, we can project that, given the brand's loyal customer base, the launch should add even more fuel to the fire in the already competitive SUV market, which is certainly a good thing for consumers, since more options mean better prices.
