Motorization

The Fiat Toro 2020's E.torQ Evo 1.8 engine features a single overhead camshaft, capable of delivering 135 horsepower on gasoline and 139 horsepower on ethanol.

The 2.0 Multijet II diesel engine is well-known internationally and features dual overhead camshafts, a turbocharger, an intercooler, and direct injection. Its strongest point is its low-end torque. Available with a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission, it delivers 170 horsepower.

And finally, we have the latest engine, a 2.4-liter Tigershark flex-fuel engine with 16 valves, only available with a 9-speed automatic transmission, capable of generating 174 horsepower on gasoline and 186 on ethanol.

Tests have shown that the 1.8 engine is somewhat limited, and this can be seen in its maximum load limit, set at "only" 650 kg. This engine is also noisy and needs to operate at high RPMs to deliver comfort.

The 2.0 engine has a higher load capacity and operates more quietly and comfortably, allowing for consistent fuel consumption levels both in the city and on the highway. For those seeking fuel efficiency and comfort without major concerns about power, this is the most recommended engine option.

Finally, the 2.4 engine offers a more flexible and smooth operation, capable of delivering power even at low speeds. In stronger accelerations, the engine, coupled with the nine-speed transmission, ensures good starts and responsiveness. The shifts are smooth, although in simple overtaking maneuvers, the automatic transmission may have to downshift up to four gears, going from ninth to fifth gear.
