Released in 2018 and only two years old, the Fiat Cronos is a sedan that came with the mission of filling the gap left by predecessors such as the Siena, Linea, and Grand Siena. In terms of design, the model did well, but didn't do much more than that. 

As is well known, the sedan market is somewhat stagnant. Today, Brazilians tend to prefer smaller vehicles. like hatchbacks Or the grand SUVs. So it's natural that the Cronos struggles when it comes to sales.

Fiat executives say the sedan's main mission is to change people's perception of the brand, and that's a point we have to agree with. 

For a long time, the automaker only offered models with outdated and antiquated designs to the market, and this only began to change in mid-2016 with the arrival of the Toro. 

The following year, Argo made this strategy even more evident, and currently the icing on the cake is Cronos itself and the visual redesign of the... Fiat Strada. 

With harmonious and modern lines, the Cronos aims to be a compact and functional sedan without being boring. In this respect, it's safe to say that the designers did a good job. 

Built on the same platform as the Argo MP-S, the sedan is only 36 centimeters longer than the hatchback.

The vehicle's interior space is a major plus. 

In the back seat, two adults and a child can travel comfortably with plenty of head and legroom. In addition to being spacious, the luggage compartment is easily accessible and has a large volume with a capacity of 525 liters. 

Interior comfort is also provided by the suspension, which is McPherson type at the front and semi-independent with stabilizer bars at the rear. 

The only downside to the vehicle's interior concerns the driver's seat adjustment, which, although adaptable, is too high, which may not be comfortable for taller drivers. 

The main new feature of the Cronos was the arrival of the HGT version, which is equipped with a 1.8 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, and includes some additional standard equipment such as a 7-inch instrument panel, digital air conditioning, and an interior with black details. 

On the outside, the new features are only available on the HGT, which includes 17'' wheels, a spoiler and black mirrors, a darkened front grille, door handles in the vehicle's color, and darkened brand logos. 

The Fiat Cronos is sold with two engine options: a 1.3 and a 1.8. 

The 1.3 engine is an 8V turbocharged Firefly capable of delivering 101 horsepower on gasoline and 109 horsepower on ethanol. 

The 1.8 engine is the 16V E.torQ Evo, capable of producing 135 horsepower on gasoline and 139 horsepower on ethanol. 

Alongside both engines, the Cronos offers a manual transmission or two different automatic transmission options. The first is a five-speed GSR-Comfort and the other is a six-speed Aisin automatic, available only in the HGT version.

When you press hard on the accelerator pedal, the sedan doesn't respond as quickly. According to Fiat, the model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 196 km/h. 

According to the manufacturer, the model is not expected to undergo any drastic changes for 2021. 

Speculation suggests that the entire Fiat vehicle lineup will undergo a change in the front grille to accommodate the brand's new logo, which is already present on the new Fiat Strada.
