The Fiat Argo 2021's main attraction is its visual update.

After the Strada debuted the new logo of FiatThe brand intends to bring the new identity to all its models, and the 2021 Fiat Argo, which can already be found in some dealerships, will be the first to feature the logo with the automaker's name written out in full.

The logo also features three lines in the colors of the Italian flag positioned on the front grille. This is a very small change, since according to internal sources, the major changes for both the Argo and the Cronos are only expected to occur in 2022.

Although most of the changes have been aesthetic, the 2021 Argo brings some specific variations that require a little attention to be noticed.

To find out what's new in the model that has been Fiat's darling, just keep reading this very special article!

The main new features of the 2021 Fiat Argo

In addition to the front-end modifications, Fiat took the opportunity to make changes to both the equipment and the... Argo versions And this is news that should be celebrated by anyone thinking about buying the Hatch.

Multimedia center

A highlight of the 2021 model is that the much-criticized 9-inch multimedia center, which has been part of the package since 2018, has been replaced by the 7-inch Uconnect system.

The multimedia center is the main change in the 2021 Argo.

This change had been requested by many people, after all, the 9'' screen didn't have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay compatibility, in addition to other limitations that made life a nightmare for the driver and passenger in terms of connecting and synchronizing with cell phones.

Makeup in various versions

The basic, unnamed 1.0 version only received new wheel covers and retained all the optional features that were already included in 2020. It will only have one optional package that includes a sound system, rear window defroster, and rear wiper.

The Drive 1.0 version is the first version to feature the new multimedia system in addition to a multifunction steering wheel. A rear USB port and new wheel covers also come standard.

In addition, this version will have a Plus package available that includes electric rear-view mirrors and windows, and a rear parking sensor. Another option for this version is the possibility of using the S-Design visual package, which includes items from the Plus package, such as a tire pressure sensor and two-tone paint.

Jumping from models equipped with a 1.0 engine to the 1.3, the changes are practically nonexistent.

The Argo Drive 1.3 received the same updates as the Drive 1.0, plus rear parking sensors, rear power windows, and electrically adjustable mirrors. The only optional extras are the S-Design package and two-tone paint.

The adventure version was the one that "changed" the most.

Of all the versions, the Trekking one received the most updates.

Offered with 1.3 and 1.8 engines, the 2021 Argo Trekking now features traction and stability control, as well as some standard items such as hill start assist and visual modifications to the decals.

The 1.3 will have two optional packages. The first is the Plus package with 15'' alloy wheels and a reversing camera. The second is the Full package with all the items from the Plus package plus automatic digital air conditioning and keyless entry.

Trekking
Argo Trekking was the one that changed the most.

The Trekking model with the 1.8 engine already comes standard with 15'' wheels, with optional extras available.

The Plus Kit includes a rearview camera, digital and automatic air conditioning, and keyless entry. The Full Kit, on the other hand, features a 7-inch screen onboard computer, leather seats, center armrest, rain and twilight sensors, electrochromic rearview mirror, and electrically folding side mirrors.

HGT is a fake sports car, but it's pleasing.

And finally, we have the Argo HGT 1.8, erroneously called a sports car, just like the Cronos sedan version.

The Argo HGT features a TFT screen for the instrument panel, a leather steering wheel, and a center armrest as standard.

The optional extras for the Plus package are: leather seats, side airbags, and two-tone paint. The optional extras for the Full package are the same as the Plus package, plus cruise control, floor mats, and paddle shifters for gear changes.

One less version for 2021

The 2021 Fiat Argo no longer has the 1.8 Precision version, which has been discontinued. This was already expected, as it was sold for R$ 68,990, only R$ 1,000 less than the Trekking version, which was also equipped with the same 1.8 139 horsepower engine and 6-speed automatic transmission.

New engine, but not until 2022.

Like the design, the mechanics of the 2021 Fiat Argo remain unchanged.

The entry-level versions have under the hood a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine capable of producing up to 77 horsepower or a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with up to 109 horsepower. Both are Flex fuel (gasoline/ethanol). For both versions, only a five-speed manual transmission is available.

Above them we have the veteran and already outdated 1.8 Flex 4-cylinder engine capable of producing up to 139 horsepower, erroneously called a sports engine. In this case, the only option is a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Motor Argo
Engine technology will change, but only in 2022.

The news about the engine maintenance is somewhat frustrating for those who were hoping for a mechanical overhaul. But the good news is that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Fiat has already announced that it is in the final stages of developing the turbocharged engines for the Firefly family. The turbocharged versions of the 1.0-liter three-cylinder and the 1.3-liter four-cylinder will be launched in the coming months and are expected to first appear on the streets under the hood of the Jeep line.

The Argo will have both engines in its first restyling, which according to Fiat is scheduled to happen in 2022.

Furthermore, Fiat has already announced that it is developing a new CVT-type transmission to work in conjunction with the two small turbocharged engines.

This is great news because the transmissions in the automakers' vehicles were heavily criticized for following a single gear ratio across all models, which doesn't allow for optimal use of the engine as a whole.

This new gearbox is expected to debut alongside the engines and arrive at dealerships in the first half of 2021.

Prices and versions

We now come to the part that interests most people: the prices. In total, the 2021 Fiat Argo will have 6 versions available, and their prices are described below:

  • Argo 1.0 MT5 R$ 53,990.00;
  • Argo Drive 1.0 MT5 R$ 58,990.00;
  • Argo Drive 1.3 MT5 R$ 61,990.00;
  • Argo Trekking 1.3 MT5 R$ 64,990.00;
  • Argo Trekking 1.8 AT6 R$ 69,990.00;
  • Argo HGT 1.8 AT6 R$ 74,990.00.

Conclusion

The Argo is one of the best hatchbacks in Brazil, but it faces some tough competition in the market, such as the sales leader Onix, considered its main rival today.

As we've shown, the changes to the 2021 Fiat Argo were very subtle. And since we at Senhor Carros value honesty, our recommendation is that if you're thinking of buying this model, wait for the 2022 version.
