Fiat 500e arrives in Brazil in August.
Just over a year after its debut in European countries, the new version of the Fiat 500e officially arrives in Brazil.
Completely redesigned from head to toe and equipped for the first time exclusively with electric propulsion, the small hatchback is the Italian automaker's first step towards electrification in the Brazilian market.
Initially, the 500e will be sold in only one version: the Icon, which is the top-of-the-line model.
Since our experts are truly beloved for the excellent work they do, they were the first to see the electrified model and, as always, bring you all the latest news.
Want to know all the details, how much it costs, and if it's worth buying a Fiat 500e?

The Fiat 500e attracts attention for its interior and exterior design.
Thus, the classic design of the "old" 500 underwent few improvements to give new life to the 500e.
In the interior of the country, Fiat dubbed its strategy the reinterpretation of an icon.
From the outside, the highlights are the LED headlights, elements divided by the cutout in the hood itself, and the logo stamped on the front.
16-inch wheels and door handles integrated into the body design look great!
Inside, the highlights include the two-spoke steering wheel covered in eco-leather, the 7-inch digital instrument cluster (100%), and the 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia center with smartphone mirroring.
The large number of storage compartments and the dashboard with body-colored trim are very appealing.
One eye-catching innovation is the E-latch button. Responsible for opening the doors, it replaces the traditional pull-out interior door handles.
Another positive point for the electric car.
Larger and wider than its predecessor, the Fiat 500e has the following dimensions:
- 3.62 meters long;
- 1.68 meters wide;
- 1.52 meters tall;
- 2.32 meters wheelbase.
A robust and functional mechanical assembly.
As expected, the standout feature of the Fiat 500e is its 87 kW or 118 horsepower engine with 22.4 kgfm of torque.
Fully electric, it is powered by a battery of up to 42 kWh.
According to Fiat, the 500e accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds. The 60 to 110 km/h acceleration takes 4.8 seconds, and the top speed is 150 km/h.
Autonomy, battery charge and driving modes
The Fiat 500e's stated range is 320 km, but it can reach up to 460 km depending on driving style.
According to Fiat, the battery can be fully charged in a standard 110 or 220V outlet in up to 14 hours. With the use of a Wallbox, the time drops to 4 hours.
The famous and powerful 85 kW charging stations allow you to fully recharge the 80% in 35 minutes.
The model also features a fast-charging system at a charging station, similar to a splash-and-go system, where five minutes of charging provides a range of 50 km.
Regarding driving modes, the Fiat 500e can be driven in three options:
- Normal;
- Range;
- Sherpa.
When selecting Range mode, the vehicle operates solely using the accelerator pedal, braking almost completely when the driver releases the pedal.
In this driving mode, each time you lift your foot off the accelerator, it promotes regenerative braking, increasing battery capacity and consequently the vehicle's range.
In Sherpa mode, the most efficient mode, some car functions are limited, prioritizing range. For example, the air conditioning is turned off and the speed is limited to 80 km/h.
Fiat 500e handling
With powerful and linear torque, the Fiat 500e performs very well both in cities and on highways.
In the stop-and-go traffic of large urban centers, it is advisable to use the model in range mode, aiming for charge replenishment and increasing/maintaining autonomy.
From a technological standpoint, the new 500e features a level 2 autonomous driving system.
This type of technology uses a front camera to control the car longitudinally and laterally, as well as assisting with adaptive cruise control, which brakes and accelerates in response to cars, pedestrians, and cyclists.
There are also lane centering features, which keep the vehicle within the lane markings when lane markings are present.
Another assistant identifies speed limit signs and recommends adherence to them. Sensors monitor blind spots, and if an obstacle is detected, a triangular light illuminates in the rearview mirror.
The driver also has a fatigue sensor and 360º cameras that help in performing maneuvers more safely.
Competition for the 500e is fierce.
Over the past 10 years, Fiat has sold more than 40,000 units of the Cinquento here.
At the time, the model was produced in Mexico, and due to free trade with Brazil, it was exempt from the 35% import tax, which guaranteed competitive prices.
The rivalry is different now. The new 500e will compete for sales with well-established models here, such as the Nissan Leaf and the Renault Zoe.
The revamped Chevrolet Bolt and the recently launched Mini Cooper S, which also begins deliveries this August, will be outsiders in this competition.
How much does the Fiat 500e cost?
Those interested can now reserve the model at 10 dealerships in 9 Brazilian cities:
- Belo Horizonte;
- Brasilia;
- Campinas;
- Curitiba;
- Florianópolis;
- Porto Alegre;
- Reef;
- Rio de Janeiro;
- São Paulo.
The new Fiat 500e is available in white, gray, black, and metallic green.
The car has a 3-year warranty. The batteries, however, have an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty.
Priced at R$239,990, the Fiat 500e is set to be Fiat's most expensive car in Brazil, and the expectation is that 120 units will be registered by the end of the year.
Let's be optimistic, right?
Is it worth having a copy?
As we've already mentioned in some articles, electrification is undoubtedly the future of vehicles worldwide.
Although hybridization is expected to gain traction initially in Brazil, electric vehicles are here to stay.
Although the Fiat 500e may seem expensive at first, several factors need to be considered, the main ones being the tax exemption for electric vehicles and fuel consumption.
According to Fiat, the cost of a full battery charge is around R$ 35.00.
Of course, the price varies depending on the location and the energy tariff, but this is the average cost for Brazil.
Thus, based on this data, the manufacturer claims that the 500e's fuel consumption is an incredible 62 km/l.
If you're a tech-savvy person with some extra money, then yes, investing in a 500e is worthwhile.
But otherwise, it's better to wait for the technology to advance until it becomes more popular and consequently cheaper.
Did you know it's possible to buy an electric car at an auction?
