Brazil is seen by automakers as a very attractive automotive market, as evidenced by the number of models and new products that arrive here every year, such as the new Volkswagen recently launched. But in addition to vehicles, there are brands looking to debut here, such as Exeed, the luxury line from Caoa Chery.

Márcio Afonso, CEO of Caoa Chery in Brazil, recently confirmed that the automaker intends to expand its portfolio of models in the Brazilian market. It appears that the Exeed should begin its presence here in 2021.

The Exeed was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017. The luxury brand was created by the Chinese company Chery with the aim of competing for buyers from renowned German automakers such as Audi and BMW, the Japanese company Lexus, and the American company Cadillac. 

To bring the brand to life, Chery hired designers and engineers from major competitors such as Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, and BMW, for example. 

Caoa Chery has been trying to bring Exeed to Brazil for some time now. About two years ago, the automaker created an advertising campaign with images of luxury models, stating that new models would soon arrive in the national automotive market. 

The models will be produced at Caoa's factories in Jacareí and Anápolis.

With its launch in Brazil, Exeed seeks to dissociate itself from the image of a cheap car with low-quality finishing, a stigma that still often accompanies vehicles from Chinese manufacturers. 

The new brand aims to reach a more select audience. As the "automaker calls itself," it is a luxury brand. 

There is still no official information on which models will come to Brazil. So far, what is known is that they are all SUVs. The biggest bet is that the first vehicle from the brand to be launched here will be the LX.

The launch of the Exeed LX is completely understandable, since the model uses the same platform as the Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X, 7 and 8.

LX is a SUV This premium compact car is equipped with cutting-edge technology found only in more exclusive models. Examples of this technological prowess can be easily seen in the holographic instrument panel and facial recognition for opening the doors and starting the engine. 

And speaking of the engine, it is believed that the LX will be powered by a 1.6 turbo flex engine with 200 horsepower, paired with a six-speed Getrag dual-clutch automatic transmission with oil bath. This is an updated version of the Powershift transmission, which will be used in the new Tiggo 8 arriving here at the end of the year. 

Another model that should also appear here is the Exeed TXL, which is actually nothing more than the XL model with some adaptations, such as the wheelbase being lengthened from 2.70 to 2.80 meters. 

While the "compact" XL has capacity for 5 occupants, the TXL is certified to carry up to 7 people. There should be no technological or engine differences between the two. 

Another model that is expected here is the Exeed VX, which will be launched this year in the Chinese market. The VX is the brand's top-of-the-line model, measuring 4.97 meters in length and with a 2.9-meter wheelbase, in addition to a great deal of power in terms of onboard technology. 

Although no information is available, it is believed that the Exeed VX will feature the same engine and transmission options as the XL and TXL, in order to optimize and facilitate production and distribution in the Brazilian market. 

Other possibilities include the launch of hybrid versions. The Exeed TX concept model, launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017, is a plug-in hybrid equipped with technology that allows its batteries to be recharged using standard wall outlets. 

According to the manufacturer, using a fast charger, it is possible to recharge the 80% batteries in 30 minutes.

In addition to the Brazilian market, Chery intends to launch the Exeed in more competitive and significant automotive markets, such as Europe and the United States. 

Following the example of what will be done in Brazil, the brand intends to launch the TX in the US as early as 2021. For the US market, the vehicles will be assembled using the so-called CKD (Completely Knocked Down) system, with 50% of the parts being imported directly from China and 50% obtained directly from local suppliers. 

Few Chinese automakers have ventured into Europe, and in North America, including the US, the name Chery was vetoed by General Motors due to its similarity to "Chevy," a nickname for Chevrolet cars in the past. Therefore, Chery in the US will be called Vantas!

The arrival of Exeed in the Brazilian automotive market is certainly good news, because in addition to showing that the country can absorb this demand, there will be more choices for consumers and consequently more attractive prices, especially for those who are... looking for an SUV competitively priced.
