Let's start by dropping a spoiler that has been repeated in practically all car models: The price of the 2021 Spin is higher. Something that has happened with many other vehicles from different brands. 

However, let's be fair! Considering the current prices in the automotive market, the 2021 Chevrolet Spin is worth the price, as there are a number of new features that justify the increase. We will now show each of them. 

The Spin's design has always been criticized. Especially in 2012, the year of its release, when it was heavily criticized and even the target of jokes because of its unconventional lines.

Six years later, the tables turned and the model underwent a major restyling process. Fortunately, this harmonious style continues to this day. 

On the exterior, the headlights have become wider and more streamlined. The grille now has a more horizontal look, and the hood is flatter and less domed than it used to be. 

The biggest design change for the station wagon is at the rear, with new horizontal taillights that extend onto the trunk lid. Without a doubt, it offers a cleaner and more pleasing look. 

While the exterior changes are noticeable, the same cannot be said for the interior. The vehicle recently received a new instrument panel, the same one used in the previous Chevrolet Tracker. 

Analog displays brought a more sophisticated and clean style compared to the digital panel, which had a relatively simplistic look for a model that was far from being popular. 

Another point that really stands out in the vehicle, at least in the Premier version, is the brown leather seats with blue stitching, which look very nice. 

The 2021 Chevrolet Spin remains true to its reputation for ample interior space. With four versions available, as we will show later – the top-of-the-line Premier version features a third row of seats in the trunk. 

The back seat is supported on sliding rails and can be positioned further forward or further back, which increases the space for passengers in the second and third rows. 

Access to the extra seats is via the right side, which can be fully folded down. Simply pull two levers to allow passengers to enter.

Fans of the remaining Zafira models lament that the manufacturer did not include a system for folding down the extra seats. This means the third row of seats can be folded down, but it ends up taking up trunk space. 

With the seats folded down, the Spin's trunk has a capacity of 716 liters. With all the seats in place, only 162 liters remain. 

Although it's a family car, one feature missing from the 2021 Chevrolet Spin is side and curtain airbags, as well as keyless entry and push-button start. 

In all other respects, the items are considered satisfactory. The top-of-the-line version comes with a full range of standard features. 

Air conditioning, power steering, power windows and locks, MyLink multimedia system capable of supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Isofix child seat anchor points, OnStar, rearview camera, parking sensors, cruise control, and leather-trimmed seats. 

However, the lack of some basic and functional items is noticeable, such as the trunk opening mechanism. You have to use the key on the trunk lid itself to access the rear compartment. This is an oversight or lack of attention on the part of the manufacturer. 

Although it doesn't come with the side or curtain airbags that are present in the Onix, the station wagon/minivan is a pleasant surprise when it comes to safety. 

The 2021 Chevrolet Spin features stability and traction control. Important systems for a vehicle designed for family use. 

Another positive aspect is the reasonable and affordable servicing and maintenance costs. This is a common practice from Chevrolet. 

Finally, it's important to point out that the insurance cost is also affordable and won't cause any surprises for owners. 

The Spin is the only model from the brand that still uses the "old" 1.8 SPE/4 engine with 111 horsepower when fueled with ethanol. 

In the premier version – the top-of-the-line model – it is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission that has received a new calibration, also used in the Onix and Onix Plus, according to the manufacturer. 

However, the operation is not linear and natural. Although the transmission performs competently during acceleration, the acceleration from a standstill is somewhat slow, suggesting that the gearbox takes a while to understand that it needs to downshift. 

The reductions are quite noticeable, especially at low speeds where everyone in the vehicle feels the familiar "jolt".

In the most basic versions, the transmission is a 6-speed manual with precise and more functional gear changes than the automated version.

Even with an older engine, the fuel consumption figures are quite acceptable considering it's a large, heavy vehicle aimed at families. Therefore, it's safe to say that the 2021 Chevrolet Spin fulfills its purpose very well.

As we mentioned earlier, the main secret to Spin's longevity lies in the absence of competitors in its price range.

Currently, it is the only model capable of carrying seven passengers for less than the dreaded R$ 100,000. 

In theory, its main competitor would be the Fiat Doblò. But with an old design and prices exceeding 100,000 R$, we can't consider the model as competition. 

Therefore, it's not absurd to say that the minivan's competitors include SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and even its sibling, the Tracker, which are priced in the R$ 90 thousand range. 

However, none of them can carry more than five passengers. Therefore, it's not unreasonable to say that the Spin has a long life ahead of it. By the end of September, 11,646 units of the model had been registered in Brazil.
