Top 10 cars that depreciated the most during the pandemic.

We now present the 10 cars that depreciated the most during the coronavirus pandemic.

10. Chevrolet Cobalt 2012 LTZ 1.4

The Cobalt was launched in November 2011 in the premium compact sedan segment in 3 different versions: LS, LT and LTZ, and had a 1.4-liter engine under the hood with 102 horsepower that performed well both in the city and on the highway.

With a smooth 5-speed transmission, the model is comfortable and boasts an impressive interior space, even larger than its older sibling, the Vectra.

Although it's a cool car, the depreciation of 10,60% could become a drawback.

9. Renault Sandero 2011 1.0

The 2011 Renault Sandero is yet another car that has depreciated the most during the pandemic.

The Sandero The 2011 model stands out for its spacious interior and large trunk.

Although it has a 1.0 engine, it is quite responsive and performs well on the road, which gives the driver a sense of security.

It's a low-maintenance vehicle that pleases most owners. Although it's almost a decade old, it's a good option for a first car. Its depreciation during the pandemic was 11,30%

8. Ford Fiesta 2013 1.0 Rocam Hatch

The 2013 Ford Fiesta was a modest vehicle even for the time of its release. Therefore, many today will find the model outdated (which isn't untrue).

Inside, there's a lot of plastic, which makes it rather noisy, especially now that it's 7 years old.

The gearbox is well-tuned and allows for precise gear changes, but the engine power leaves something to be desired.

Even though it's a Rocam 1.0 engine, it proves insufficient to handle the model's weight of over 1080 kg.

Patience is needed for overtaking, and acceleration is always slow. All this, plus the depreciation of 11,30%, shows that it's a car to avoid.

7. Hyundai Tucson 2015 2.0 automatic

The Tucson is a well-known family SUV and has always attracted attention for its size and comfort. Many owners claim that the model is robust and functional.

However, the 2015 model is equipped with a 2.0 engine and a four-speed automatic transmission, which makes it extremely fuel-inefficient due to its weight and limited options for reducing engine speed.

Another negative point mentioned by many owners is the lack of stability.

Currently, its depreciation is 11,50%. Therefore, taking all these points into account, and considering the arrival of its new generation, we recommend avoiding the aforementioned model.

6. Citroen C3 2015 1.5

Although the 2015 Citroen C3 is also among the cars that depreciated the most during the pandemic, that doesn't mean it's not a good option.

The model has a 1.5 flex-fuel engine capable of generating 122 horsepower when running on ethanol.

It has advanced technology compared to its competitors and can be a great purchase option for those looking for a cheaper car during times of crisis.

The only flaws pointed out by owners are the fragility of the connecting rods and the somewhat cramped space for rear seat occupants. The current depreciation of the model is 11,50%.

5. Peugeot 207 2012 1.4

In fifth place on our list is the Peugeot 207 equipped with a 1.4 engine. Even after almost a decade on the market, the Peugeot 207 is highly praised.

This is a complete model in terms of equipment and standard features, with an engine that performs well both in urban centers and on highways.

The only weak point mentioned by those who have owned or still own one is related to the suspension, which isn't very well-suited for the rough Brazilian roads. The 2012 207 1.4 has suffered a depreciation of 12,70% so far.

4. Citroen C3 2011 1.4

Approaching its tenth anniversary, the 2011 Citroen C3 model strikes a middle ground among its owners, neither universally loved nor a complete disaster.

The model stands out for its comfort and onboard technology. However, it has some chronic problems, such as issues with the suspension, and there are many complaints about electrical problems.

Buying one might be a good option, although caution and attention are needed. Currently, its depreciation is 12,90%.

3. Peugeot 207 2011 1.4

Here we have another version of the Peugeot 207, whose rating is very similar to the model mentioned, but this one is from 2012.

In terms of technology and standard features, it was far ahead of the competition from other models sold here, in addition to having good performance and fuel consumption.

And like the 2012 model, this one also has a fragile suspension when it comes to driving on Brazilian city streets and roads.

Even so, it can be a good option for those looking for a cheaper car. The depreciation rate of the 2011 Peugeot 207 is 13%.

2. Citroen C3 2008 1.4

In second place among the cars that depreciated the most during the pandemic is another example of the small French C3. Only this time it's a 2008 model.

What stands out most in terms of the model's positive aspects is its comfort and technology. The electric power steering is one of the most praised features by current and former owners. Performance and fuel consumption are also positive.

The downside, once again, is the suspension. In fact, many models from France struggle on Brazilian roads, as the design is intended for European, not Brazilian, surfaces.

Even so, the model remains an option for those looking for their first car or a cheaper vehicle. Its current depreciation is 13,40%.

1. Volkswagen Fox 2009 1.0

And leading the list of depreciations during the pandemic is the 2009 Volkswagen Fox equipped with a 1.0 engine.

The opinion about hatch It's quite positive. Even though it's over a decade old, it's still a car with a modern look and good fuel economy, boasting good average consumption in both city and highway driving.

The downsides are the cramped space in the back seat and the small trunk. Today it can be a great vehicle for singles looking for a cheaper car or a first vehicle to call their own. The model's depreciation rate is currently 14%.

Conclusion

Although some models exhibit high depreciation rates, it's important to keep in mind that the moment a brand-new vehicle leaves the dealership, it automatically suffers a high depreciation.

Today, Brazilians aren't paying much attention to the issue of vehicle depreciation. An article FENAUTO showed that the used car market is booming and is already showing results above expectations.
