Volkswagen's best-selling cars in 2020
Volkswagen arrived in Brazil in 1953, when the first Beetle units were assembled from parts imported from Germany.
The automaker's cars were so successful that the brand decided to build its first factory outside of Germany in São Bernardo do Campo.
Today, Volkswagen has more than 500 dealerships spread throughout Brazil, four factories, and has produced more than 22 million vehicles.
Check out which Volkswagen cars were the best-selling in Brazil in 2020.

10. Volkswagen Tiguan
The well-known imported SUV ranks tenth among Volkswagen's best-selling cars in 2020.
Equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 220 horsepower and a 7-speed automatic transmission, the model boasts many standard features to compete with rivals such as the HRV and the Equinox.
It is considered a great option for large families or for those with young children who need ample space. In total, 4,390 Tiguan units have been sold so far.
9. Volkswagen up!
In ninth position among Volkswagen's best-selling cars is the compact up!.
Since its launch, it has pleased the public, mainly because some versions are equipped with the new 1.0 turbo 3-cylinder engine, which is economical and offers good performance.
Ideal for city and highway commuting, the Volkswagen up! has so far had no less than 5,049 units registered.
8. Volkswagen Amarok
In eighth position, we have the Volkswagen Amarok.
The pickup truck, which arrived with strong appeal to the Brazilian market, gradually lost ground to its main competitors.
Its high price and poor performance compared to other models such as Hilux Frontier, for example.
Furthermore, the German automaker's pickup truck is likely to lose even more ground, with the expected launches of the Hyundai Santa Cruz and the Peugeot Landtrek. In total, the Amarok had 7,026 units sold in 2020.
7. Volkswagen Voyage
The Volkswagen Voyage is an alternative to the Gol, after all, it's the most popular model from the German brand, but with a larger trunk.
The model is sold in several versions, with a wide variety of finishes, as well as different engine and transmission options. Its ample space makes it ideal for families.
In total, 8,497 units of the Voyage were sold in 2020.
6. Volkswagen Fox
The Fox has become a major question mark for Volkswagen, after all, after reaching good sales peaks, the small hatchback ended up plummeting in the preferences of Brazilians.
Furthermore, experts say there is a lot of internal competition, with Gol, up! and even Polo competing for Fox buyers.
There are indications that the model will be discontinued at the end of 2020. Even with internal and external competition, 10,097 units of the Fox have been sold so far.
5. Volkswagen Virtus
The Virtus is another pleasant surprise recently launched by the German brand.
The sedan is sold in different versions and has strong competitors in the market, such as the Honda Civic and even the Toyota Corolla, but its advantage lies in its lower prices.
Occupying the fifth position among Volkswagen's best-selling cars in 2020, only improvements are needed in its finish, which has an excessive and unnecessary amount of plastic.
In total, 14,934 Virtus units were registered in 2020.
4. Volkswagen Saveiro
The Saveiro is a great model for singles and couples without children. Furthermore, it's an obvious choice for most people who need a pickup truck for work.
Also sold in various versions, the Saveiro is a well-known vehicle in Brazil, where the small pickup truck has complete confidence. A workhorse for all tasks, the model sold no less than 15,317 units in 2020.
3. Volkswagen Polo
The Polo has recently undergone a complete redesign and is often referred to as the Virtus Hatch.
The model boasts a lot of onboard technology and different versions; however, the Brazilian public's trust in the German brand, combined with the car's new look, has truly won them over.
It's no coincidence that the model holds the bronze medal among Volkswagen's 10 best-selling cars, with 24,084 units registered in 2020.
2. Volkswagen Gol
The popular model, which was once a sales leader for years, is no longer even the leader among the German brand's models.
Joking aside, GoThe L, like many other cars from the manufacturer, is sold in several versions; in fact, its most basic option is currently among the 10 cheapest cars in Brazil.
The forty-year-old, well-known to the Brazilian public, shows that it still has plenty of fuel left in the tank, having sold 29,254 units so far.
1. Volkswagen T-Cross
And at the top of the list is one of the newest models in Volkswagen's current generation of vehicles, the T-Cross.
After strong sales figures, this compact SUV aims for nothing less than the sales leadership in its category in 2020, and by all indications, it's doing very well.
With different versions and two engine options, the overall package is quite appealing, and in addition to being Volkswagen's best-selling model, it ranks fifth in sales figures in the country, ahead of all other SUVs sold here.
In total, the T-Cross 30,808 units have been sold so far.
Conclusion
As you can see, the list of Volkswagen's best-selling cars doesn't bring any big surprises, remaining entirely within expectations.
With the arrival of many car manufacturers in Brazil, accompanied by new models and new vehicle categories, it is perfectly natural that sales become more diluted and the total number of sales becomes somewhat mixed.
