Of the 14 candidates running for mayor of São Paulo, seven declared owning a vehicle. Check out the models each of them owns. 

Andrea Matarazzo – PSD: Honda CBR 1100 XX 

Andrea Matarazzo doesn't have any cars registered in his name, but he does own a motorcycle. And it's not just any motorcycle. It's a 1997 Honda CBR 1100 XX.

Nicknamed the Super Black Bird, it was once considered the fastest motorcycle in the world, reaching 287 km/h in a test in 1997, but was eventually surpassed in 1999 by its competitor, the Suzuki Hayabusa, which reached an incredible 312 km/h in 1999.

Bruno Covas – PSDB: Audi Q3

The current mayor of the state capital of São Paulo has declared that he owns an Audi Q3.

The German SUV can have between 170 and 220 horsepower depending on the version and the type of drive powering the wheels, which can be all-wheel drive. The engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. The model currently costs R$ 83,500.

Celso Russomanno – REPUBLICANS: 7 different vehicles

Here we have many cars belonging to the candidates for mayor of São Paulo. In fact, only candidate Celso Russomano, who currently appears to be leading in the polls, has one. searchHe is also the candidate who owns the most vehicles registered in his name. 

Russomano declared that he owns a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer; a 2004 Volkswagen Passat V6; a 2007 Hummer; a 1979 Thunder Phor; and a 1996 Engesa Jeep. In addition to the cars, the candidate also owns two... motorcyclesA Honda NX Falcon 400 and a Ducati.

When we add up all the vehicles, the candidate has an amount that exceeds the figures of R$ 280 thousand. 

Guilherme Boulos – PSOL Chevrolet Celta

The leading left-wing candidate in the São Paulo mayoral race has only one declared asset: a Chevrolet Celta, with no year specified. The model was produced in Brazil between 2000 and 2015.

Jilmar Tatto – PT: Honda Civic

Like Guilherme Boulos, the PT candidate for mayor of São Paulo did not specify the year of his Honda Civic. However, based on the declared value, we can presume that the vehicle is a 2017 model.

Marina Helou – NETWORK: Honda HR-V EX

Finally, regarding the cars of the candidates for mayor of São Paulo, we have Marina Helou from the Rede party, who declared owning a 2018 Honda HR-V EX. The model is valued at R$78,000.

Cars of the candidates for mayor of Rio de Janeiro 

Similar to São Paulo, of the 14 candidates for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, only eight own a vehicle. Check out the vehicles owned by the candidates in Rio de Janeiro.

Bandeira de Mello – NETWORK: 2 different vehicles

Here are some more examples of cars belonging to mayoral candidates. In this case, in Rio de Janeiro.

Bandeira de Mello also declared to the TSE that he owns two vehicles. One is a 2019 Chevrolet Spin and the other a 2009 Fiat Palio Adventure Locker. Together, both cars are worth approximately R$120,000.

Benedita da Silva – PT: 2 different vehicles

Candidate Benedita da Silva of the Workers' Party has two different vehicles listed in her asset declaration. 

The first is a Fiat 500 Sport and the other is a 2014/2015 Renault Logan. In the valuation, both vehicles together are worth approximately R$ 100,000.

Cyro Garcia – PSTU: Chevrolet Celta 2010

Like Guilherme Boulos in São Paulo, Cyro Garcia in Rio de Janeiro only owns one vehicle: a 2010 Chevrolet Celta, valued at approximately R$15,000 according to the Fipe table.

Delegate Martha Rocha – PDT: Toyota Corolla 2016/2017

With assets exceeding R$1 million, mayoral candidate Martha Rocha declared only one vehicle: One Toyota Corolla 2016/2017 worth R$ 110 thousand.

Due to its high price, this model may be the top-of-the-line Altis version with Multi-Drive transmission and a 2.0-liter engine producing 154 horsepower. 

Eduardo Paes – DEM: Volkswagen Tiguan 2019

Eduardo Paes, mayor of Rio de Janeiro for two terms in the last decade, declared that he owns a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan.

For the price of R$ 76,571, the model can be the Allspace version equipped with a 1.4 TSI 150 horsepower engine with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. 

Fred Luz – NEW: 2 different vehicles

Like other candidates from Rio de Janeiro, Fred Luz declared that he owns two vehicles: a Jeep Compass Sport and a 2015 Hyundai i30. Together, both cars are worth approximately R$170,000.

Glória Heloiza – PSC: 2 different vehicles

Two of the three assets declared by the PSC candidate are cars. 

Glória Heloiza owns a Citroen C3 Tendence and an unspecified Audi A8. But given the price, it must be an A3 Sedan equipped with a Tiptronic transmission. Together, the two cars are worth just over R$ 100,000.

Renata Souza – PSOL: – Renault Sandero Stepway 2015 

And our last candidate on the list is Renata Souza from PSOL, who declared herself to be the owner of a... Renault Sandero Stepway 2015. The vehicle has a 1.4 flex engine and reaches 106 horsepower when fueled with ethanol.

Conclusion

As we mentioned earlier, some candidates, due to their activities in the business sector, have more money than others, which is reflected in the vehicles they drive. 

The most emblematic cases are those of São Paulo candidate Celso Russomano, who declared owning 7 vehicles, and candidates Guilherme Boulos and Cyro Garcia, who own a simple Celta. 

Furthermore, it's important to remember that some candidates don't even own cars and rely on public transportation, taxis, or even ride-sharing apps to get around in capital cities.
