10.Mitsubishi ASX
The Mitsubishi ASX is a cool car that many people like, but it's fair to say that it's stuck in the past.
The model has been produced for ten years on the same platform, and even with restyling, it still has an outdated design compared to its rivals and even when compared to other models from the brand.
The finish is rather basic for its price. Furthermore, owners claim that the 2.0 Flex engine leaves something to be desired and... After-sales service has a reputation for being complicated. Finally, the price is also rather steep.
There are other options on the market that are more spacious and more affordable, such as the Jeep Compass and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
9. Chery New QQ
The New QQ can no longer even claim to be the cheapest car in the country, as the Moby now holds that title.
The New QQ has a fragile structure, a weak engine, and its maintenance is known to be complicated. Furthermore, the manufacturer has already confirmed that 2020 marks the end of the line for this model.
Just as bad as buying a brand new QQ is having to sell it in the future. Therefore, if you value your money, don't buy the remaining models at dealerships, no matter how good a deal it might seem.
8. Volkswagen Fox
You must be thinking: These guys at Senhor Carros are crazy. The Fox is a great car! Yes… There's no doubt about that, and we'll show you why this model is on this list.
The Volkswagen Fox became somewhat out of place in the brand's lineup after the arrival of the Up and the Polo. The Fox is currently sold in three versions ranging from R$ 51 mi to R$ 56 mil.
However, the Polo, which is much more modern and more enjoyable to drive, has a starting price in the range of R$ 53 thousand.
Even the 1.6 MSI version of the Polo, which sells for R$61,000, ends up offering better value for money due to its technology, safety features, and structural innovations. Furthermore, there are strong rumors that the Fox will be discontinued as early as 2021.
Having an outdated and discontinued car is a sure way to lose money. Therefore, it's best to avoid it.
7. Nissan March
Here's a direct reason for you to avoid a brand new Nissan March: 2020 is the model's last year. Nissan has already confirmed that it will be discontinued.
The model had been somewhat forgotten by Nissan for some time. Furthermore, its price was rather steep, ranging between R$ 51,000 and R$ 56,000.
It would be a much better deal to buy the sedan that uses the same platform and also has a larger trunk and ample interior space. Not to mention that it's a version with less depreciation.
6. Renault Duster
The restyling of Renault Duster It was a real shame, and that's not the only reason why it's another brand new car you should avoid.
The automaker, which had promised drastic changes to the SUV, only gave the exterior a facelift and made few alterations to the interior and mechanics, even removing one of the best-selling versions, the 4x4.
The new version only has one type of engine: the old and outdated 1.6. In the future, the 1.3 turbo flex engine is expected, which offers excellent value for money in terms of performance and fuel consumption.
5. Citroen
Similar to what happened with the Nissan March, the Citroen C3 appears to have been abandoned by the French automaker.
The model, packed with standard features and relatively affordable prices, was attractive to different consumer profiles. But its future in Brazil remains uncertain.
Following the current trend in the crossover automotive market, the C4 Cactus It should hit the streets next year, and with that, older models tend to fall into oblivion or even be discontinued.
Although Citroen hasn't confirmed it, there are strong rumors that the C3 is close to being discontinued.
4. Fiat Grand Siena
The Fiat Grand Siena is yet another brand-new car that you should avoid.
The model has an entry price in the range of R$ 50,000 equipped with a 1.0 engine and costs around R$ 56,000 with a 1.6 engine. However, there is another sedan from the same brand with a much more attractive cost-benefit ratio.
We're talking about the Cronos. Although it starts at around R$58,000, it comes equipped with the modern 1.3 FireFly engine, which is much more economical and offers better handling, not to mention the various standard features.
The Siena is an outdated model that is unlikely to undergo a redesign. Therefore, it should be avoided.
3.Lifan X60
The Lifan X60 offers better value for money than many other competing vehicles. Furthermore, it starts at around R$70,000, significantly more affordable than competitors like the EcoSport and Tracker.
The Lifan X60 also comes packed with standard optional features. But then why is it a car to be avoided?
Simply put: There are few dealerships, and the model has a reputation for expensive and complicated maintenance. Furthermore, the model has poor resale value, which depreciates it much more than its rivals. Sad, isn't it?
2. Fiat Doblò
The Fiat Doblò is yet another example of a car that shouldn't be bought brand new.
In truth, the model is a complete enigma. It's an old design without any updates, featuring an outdated and inefficient engine. Furthermore, the model only offers a manual transmission option and extremely basic finishing.
The Doblò is a car that serves both work purposes and is suitable for families with a member who has special needs. The model is very poorly regarded in the automotive market and depreciates significantly.
Furthermore, the Doblò is placed on the list of cars that may cease production every year. Therefore, we do not recommend it.
1. Chevrolet Tracker
The Tracker has been widely praised, and rightly so, as the model is very good and of high quality. However, it's not a model that should be bought brand new.
The justifications are: price, platform, and comparison with a vehicle of the same brand. The entry-level version of the Tracker starts at R$85,000. The top-of-the-line version of the Onix Plus costs R$80,000.
The Tracker and the Onix Plus use the same platform and the same engine. While the Tracker comes stripped down, for R$5,000 less the Onix Plus comes fully equipped.
So, if you're thinking about buying a brand new Tracker, take your time and consider the value of your hard-earned money.
