The new 2021 Volkswagen Polo is starting to arrive at dealerships across Brazil. Relaunched in 2017, the model is popular with many and is already considered one of the brand's best-selling models in the Brazilian market.

The Polo stands out for its technological features and efficient engines. Just to give an example, it's the only one in its segment that offers a digital dashboard that can be fully configured to the driver's preference.

Volkswagen Polo 2021

Since Senhor Carros' main mission is to keep you informed about the automotive world, we are now bringing you this exclusive content. all the news Regarding the 2021 Polo. Shall we check it out?

The main new features of the 2021 Volkswagen Polo

The main highlight is the GTS sports version, which now offers 18-inch wheels with the Brescia design as an option. Naturally, the standard model comes with 17-inch wheels.

However, this option doesn't come "for free"; to equip the model with 18-inch wheels and tires, the owner will need to spend approximately R$ 1500 more.

Another very positive change can be seen in the entry-level version with the 1.0 MPI engine, which now comes standard with the Composition Touch infotainment system, in addition to a multifunction steering wheel.

Motorization

The 2021 Volkswagen Polo has three different engine options. They are:

  • 1.0 MPI;
  • 1.6 MSI;
  • 1.4 TSI.

The most basic engine is the 1.0 MPI which has 75 horsepower when fueled with gasoline and 84 horsepower when fueled with ethanol.

With this engine, the model reaches 100 km/h in 13 seconds and can reach speeds of up to 170 km/h.

The 1.6 MSI engine equips the most complete models in the line and is capable of delivering 110 and 117 horsepower with gasoline and ethanol respectively.

With the 1.6 MSI engine, the 2021 Polo can reach 100 km/h in just over 9 seconds and has a top speed of 193 km/h.

Motor 1.4 TSI
The 1.4 TSI engine is only available in the GTS version.

Finally, we have the 1.4 TSI engine, which is only available in the sporty GTS version. This engine boasts 150 horsepower and reaches 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds. With this engine, the Polo can reach a top speed of 207 km/h.

Comfort and functionality

Inside, the ambiance is quite interesting, but it lacks luxury; instead, it exudes sophistication, which is quickly noticeable with the Active Info Display and its three instrumentation themes.

The Active Info Display is a highlight with its three instrument themes, including a full-screen map as well as the multimedia center.

In terms of instrumentation and functionality, the 2021 Volkswagen Polo surpasses many other models from the brand, such as the Golf and even the Passat.

Interior
The interior of the 2021 Polo is pleasant and functional.

It's important to keep in mind that automakers have been making changes in the compact car segment in Brazil. They tend to be simpler, but they gain in safety and technology features.

The model offers good interior space, especially for rear seat passengers. Speaking of the rear seats, the model features a rear air vent, an exclusive feature among domestically produced models.

The trunk also has plenty of space, enough for a small family or for couples who have pets instead of two children.

In terms of handling, the positive point goes to the driving position, which is comfortable with all the controls within easy reach.

The driver who buys the car only needs a little time to configure some information on the Active Info Display. But in general, the views can be accessed via the steering wheel.

Contrary to what many claim, the Polo is not a mini-Golf, nor should it be seen as such. The model is actually a compact car with the goal of being among the best-selling in Brazil, as desired by the brand.

Safety is the golden word at Polo 2021.

The 2021 Volkswagen Polo is synonymous with safety. The model features front and side airbags. In addition, the braking system is ABS with EBD. All occupants have three-point seatbelts and headrests.

For children, the model features an Isofix system for attaching a child car seat.

Starting with the Comfortline version, the model features hill start assist and electronic traction and stability controls that ensure safety and even a bit of fun for those with a more sporty driving style.

Behavior and handling

On the streets and roads, the 2021 Polo proves itself to be... agile vehicle It already comes with the 1.0 MPI engine. The engine has a pleasant sound, already familiar from models like the Up! and Golf.

With various driving adjustment options, the hatchback focuses on fuel economy when put into Drive mode.

The 1.0 engine fills up quickly, but the gear ratios are softened to provide more comfort and reduce fuel consumption. In manual mode, gear changes can be made using the gear lever or paddle shifters, which guarantees a bit more performance.

The 1.6 engine offers quick and efficient responses and, as expected, "fills up" faster than the 1.0. In this configuration, it's possible to maintain cruising speed with relatively lower engine speeds than with the 1.0 engine.

Dirigibilidade Volkswagen Polo 2021
Handling is a strong point of the 2021 Volkswagen Polo.

And finally, the 1.4 engine, which is only available in the sports version, guarantees fun. Gear changes occur in a shorter interval. This ensures a more fun and spirited driving experience.

Although the automatic transmission may not appeal to everyone, its calibration with the TSI engine makes the combination very functional.

Another point that draws a lot of attention is the electric power steering, which is light and progressive. This gives the driver more direct control for changing trajectory and cornering.

The suspension deserves a special mention. 20 mm higher than the German version, it features a firm calibration that allows you to attack corners and maintain your trajectory without any exaggerated tendency or front-end slide.

Stability and traction control ensure the fun continues even if the tires squeal.

Finally, the brakes are also a highlight. They are efficient and don't cause any noticeable body roll, giving the Polo excellent control and consequently, safety.

Consumption

The average fuel consumption of the 2021 Volkswagen Polo varies depending on the engine type.

The 1.0 engine has a fuel consumption of 8.8 km/L and 10 km/L in the city and 12.9 km/L and 14.3 km/L on highways with ethanol and gasoline respectively.

The 1.6 MSI engine delivers 7.9 km/L and 9.3 km/L in urban use and 11 km/L and 13.8 km/L on highways when fueled with ethanol and gasoline, respectively.

Finally, the 1.4 engine achieves average fuel consumption of 7.5 km/L and 9.6 km/L in city driving and 11 km/L and 13.7 km/L on highways, respectively, using ethanol and gasoline.

Versions and prices

Now comes the best part: The versions and prices. The 2021 Polo is sold in the following versions and has the following prices:

  • 1.0 MPI Manual: R$ 58.150;
  • 1.6 MSI Manual: R$ 67.890;

Conclusion

As mentioned at the beginning of the content, Polo was relaunched in 2017 while the Virtus was launched in the same year.

We can colloquially say that the Virtus is the sedan version of the Polo, and both are very similar from a driving perspective.

When analyzing the prices of both Volkswagen's own models and those of competing models, it's easy to see that, considering its quality and value, the 2021 Polo is an obvious choice.
