Toyota Yaris 2021: Find out what's new in this model.

Although major changes were expected for the 2021 Yaris, what we saw were extremely minor alterations, but ones that made the model more attractive.

The key element in this restyling process is the front bumper, which is now completely new after two years on the market.

However, the part was redesigned so that much of the vehicle remained unchanged, such as the headlights, which did not change shape, but the interior was altered and now features daytime running lights very similar to those used in its larger sibling, the Toyota Corolla.

There's little new in the other components. The wheels retain their design, as does the rear section, where everything remains the same. But this shouldn't be seen as a negative thing.

Engine and transmission

Let's start by talking about the heart of the car: the engine. The 2021 Toyota Yaris has two engine options, with the more basic one only available for the hatchback model in its entry-level versions.

This most basic engine is the 1.3 Flex Dual VVT-i DOHC 16-valve engine with dual overhead camshafts, multipoint injection, and transverse mounting.

This engine option is capable of delivering 94 horsepower when fueled with gasoline and 101 horsepower when fueled with ethanol, and offers quite attractive torque.

The other engine available for the model, which equips the higher-end versions of the hatchback and all versions of the sedan, is a 1.5 Flex Dual VVT-i DOHC, also with 16 valves, double overhead camshaft, multipoint injection, and transverse installation.

This power unit can deliver 105 horsepower when fueled with gasoline and 110 horsepower when fueled with ethanol.

And the transmissions responsible for moving the gearbox can be a six-speed manual, aimed at performance and fuel efficiency, or a Multidrive CVT that simulates 7 speeds.

Exterior and interior finish

When it comes to the exterior finish, the model is a pleasant surprise.

The 2021 Yaris features body-colored power side mirrors with integrated turn signals. The honeycomb-style lower grille is eye-catching for its aesthetic appeal.

Door handles and front bumpers in the car's color, along with 15'' steel wheels, complete the design, which appeals to many people.

Inside, the finish is also positive. The black pillars and headliner give an impression of spaciousness, making the model more comfortable.

The doors and seats have a synthetic fabric that is pleasant to the touch, and there is also a front armrest, which makes the trip more comfortable.

Comfort

The 2021 Toyota Yaris follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, whose comfort has always been paramount, especially in terms of interior space, which is far superior to that of several competitors in the segment.

The air conditioning system, along with the heating system, features a unique pollen filter in its category and is fully digital, ensuring extra comfort for the vehicle's various occupants.

In addition, the key with integrated controls allows opening and locking the doors remotely via the alarm system.

The on-board computer has 12 distinct functions that provide a range of information to the driver. The progressive electric power steering ensures comfort and precision in maneuvers and driving.

By using cruise control, it's possible to maintain a constant speed, prioritizing fuel consumption and avoiding speeding tickets.

In the rear, there are armrests and cup holders for the convenience of the occupants.

Technology

When it comes to technology, the 2021 Yaris also surprises in a positive way.

The first point to highlight is the Toyota Play+ multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which allows pairing with various smartphones.

The high-resolution TFT digital panel has up to 16 functions, allowing you to check tire pressure, oil pressure, and many other options.

Automatic headlight activation provides convenience and safety in low-light environments.

Security

In terms of safety, the 2021 Yaris also holds its own and follows the standard of everything seen so far.

The Japanese model earned four stars for safety for both adult and child occupants in the Latin NCAP test.

In all versions, the model features traction and stability control and hill start assist, which provides greater convenience when starting on inclines. This prevents the vehicle from rolling backward for up to three seconds while the pedal is being changed.

In addition, the Yaris is equipped with seven airbags: two front airbags, two side airbags, two curtain airbags, and one knee airbag for the driver, providing high levels of safety and peace of mind for everyone on board.
