9 – Daewoo Espero
Neither Kia nor Hyundai, the first Korean automaker to arrive in Brazil with the intention of dominating the market was Daewoo. The automaker's big bet was the famous Espero sedan.
However, the Korean brand ran into a completely inadequate planning issue, as the Espero had as competitors two major sales champions at the time, the Vectra and the Omega.
Although it had good build quality, advanced technology, and performance, the maintenance costs were prohibitive. The Espero quickly became a sales flop and today is on the list of the worst cars produced in Brazil.
