18 – Jac T50
Manufactured by JAC, the T50 is a little-known car in our market, and it became one of the most depreciated cars of 2019, as there were several reports of problems with the vehicle. Such as heavy steering, steering problems, poor performance, low comfort and lack of quality in the equipment. The JAC T50 is the 18th car on our list of the most depreciated with a depreciation of -13,25%.
17 – Suzuki S-Cross
The S-Cross is a beautiful and eye-catching car manufactured by Suzuki. The interior finish is incredible, but that wasn't enough to prevent it from being among the most depreciated cars of 2019. The vehicle has high fuel consumption, a stiff suspension, a very high price, and several problems can occur, such as doors that don't lock automatically while driving, as well as fragile parts. The S-Cross also only requires servicing every 6 months, which can be a problem if the car is a perpetual patient of repair shops. With a depreciation of -12,26%, the Suzuki S-Cross is one of the most depreciated cars on the market.
16 – Chevrolet TrailBlazer
The Chevrolet Trailblazer is the first of only two General Motors cars on our list. The car has very high fuel consumption, and numerous reports indicate poor build quality, terrible body roll, and an extremely small trunk with a heavy, non-electric tailgate. With a depreciation of -12,10%, the General Motors Trailblazer is one of the cars that has lost the most value in the last year.
15 – Ford Ranger
Manufactured by Ford, the Ranger is a robust and well-known car on the market. It has become one of the most depreciated vehicles due to several factors, including poor after-sales service, high fuel consumption, problems with the cooling system, electrical defects, and interior noises. The Ford Ranger was one of the cars that depreciated the most in 2019, with a depreciation of -14,70%.
14 – Fiat Strada
Manufactured by Fiat, the Strada is one of the brand's flagship cars, being the automaker's best-selling mini pickup truck in the country. The Strada has become one of the cars that has lost the most value due to its high theft rate, high fuel consumption, poor finish, parts problems, excessive noise, uncomfortable seats, water infiltration in the cabin, among other negative factors that can be found in any owner's account of the vehicle. The model's depreciation in 2019 was -17,83%.
13 – Peugeot 2008
Manufactured by the French automaker Peugeot, the 2008 is not a very popular car in Brazil, especially with the strong influence of current competitors. It becomes one of the most depreciated cars due to negative factors such as high fuel consumption and maintenance costs, the fact that it only has 4 gears, a small trunk, and ridiculously low sales. Consequently, the Peugeot 2008 would be one of the cars with the highest depreciation of the year, and in 2019 it depreciated by -18,74%.
12 – Fiat Grand Siena
Manufactured by Fiat, the Grand Siena is the successor to the well-known Siena, famous for its immense trunk and for being one of the main popular cars in the country. In 2019, the Grand Siena was one of the cars that lost the most value due to negative factors such as expensive insurance, suspension problems, poor performance, high theft rate, low quality of seat upholstery, and lack of sportiness. The depreciation of the Fiat Grand Siena in 2019 was -12,35%.
11 – Renault Sandero
The Sandero is one of Renault's flagship cars and one of the brand's best-selling models in the country. However, these results weren't enough to prevent it from becoming one of the most depreciated cars on the market, if not one of the three most depreciated. The main reasons for its poor performance in 2019 were problems such as a weak engine, suspension compromising comfort, lack of safety features, and limited rear seat space. The Renault Sandero depreciated by -21,69%.
10 – Ford Ka Sedan
The Ford Ka is one of the best-selling cars in Brazil, and recently it gained a new version, the Ford Ka Sedan. The car is excellent and was also one of Ford's top sellers in 2019, with good market figures. However, serious reports point to the model having high fuel consumption, mediocre finish, interior noise, and problems with sound insulation. Even with great sales figures, the Ford Ka Sedan had a depreciation of -15,91% in the market in 2019.
9 – Fiat Doblò
It's hard to believe that the Fiat Doblò is still being manufactured; the car is one of the most outdated vehicles in the country and has more social disapproval than the president of the republic. With poor performance, inefficient sound insulation, undersized air conditioning, interior noise, and high fuel consumption, the Fiat Doblò is one of the most depreciated cars on the market, with a depreciation of -21,23%.
8 – Renault Duster Oroch
The Duster is one of Renault's best-selling cars in our country, perhaps the automaker's best-selling model. With a recent, peculiar version called the Duster Oroch, the Renault Duster lost credibility and became one of the cars that depreciated the most in 2019. With problems in the fuel system, the climate control system, poor fuel consumption, low safety, and very low engine oil levels, the Duster Oroch lost a lot of value, with a depreciation of -14,73% in the market.
7 – Nissan Sentra
The Sentra is a beautiful sedan from Nissan, a car highly acclaimed by consumers, however, it has enough problems to be one of the most depreciated cars in Brazil. With high fuel consumption, terrible resale value, expensive parts, a high theft rate, and lack of illumination on the door window controls, the Nissan Sentra is one of the cars that lost the most value in 2019, with -12,04% depreciation.
6 – Chevrolet Cobalt
As mentioned above regarding the Chevrolet Trailblazer, there are only two GM cars on this list, and the second and last is the Cobalt, which since its launch has been struggling to find its place in the market and hasn't achieved particularly outstanding results. The car has become one of the most depreciated vehicles in the country due to its low cargo capacity, mediocre finish, steering problems, and poor rear visibility. The Chevrolet Cobalt depreciated by -18,61% in 2019.
5 – Ford Focus Fastback
The Fastback is one of the derivatives of the renowned Focus model that was not as well received as expected. Manufactured by Ford, the Focus Fastback is one of the most depreciated cars, as it has expensive parts, abnormal noises in the steering, only 4 gears, and the powershift transmission has several flaws. In 2019 it had a depreciation percentage of -25,99%.
4 – Citroën AirCross
The AirCross is a modern and even quite attractive car, in a peculiar way. Manufactured by the French automaker Citroën, the model fits into our list of vehicles that lost the most value last year. It has weak suspension, high fuel consumption, excessive jolts in the gears, electrical defects, and very poor after-sales service. The concept is good, but for the Brazilian market it fell short; its depreciation in 2019 was -14,48%.
3 – Fiat Weekend
A vehicle with a strong reputation in the Brazilian market, but whenever it's updated, consumers pay close attention. It's a historic and older car, so it's always good to keep an eye on the Weekend, successor to the Palio, manufactured by Fiat. It has made a lot of history in our market, but in 2019 it became one of the most depreciated cars, with high fuel consumption, expensive insurance, poor finish, a high theft rate, and little rear space. It's a good car for the used car market, but overall, it depreciated by -15,47% last year.
2 – Ford Focus
The Focus, one of Ford's highest-rated cars in the Brazilian market, has a surprisingly strong sales history. However, it lost value in 2019, and we can highlight some points contributing to this decline in social approval, such as poor door finishes, expensive parts, heavy steering, poor ground clearance, and a small trunk. Despite being a well-regarded car, it was one of the most depreciated cars last year, with a depreciation of -16,18%.
1 – Fiat Toro
The Toro, a vehicle that surprised the market and consumers, creating a rivalry among car enthusiasts about its qualities and defects, quickly gained its place and became one of the best-selling cars in the country. We can assume that the reason it was one of the most depreciated cars last year is due to its very high price, electrical problems, insufficient air conditioning, high fuel consumption, injection problems, poor finish, among other issues highlighted by owners. But as we say, some like it, some don't. However, whether you like it or not, it was one of the cars that lost the most value, with a depreciation of -18,06% in 2019.
