10 – Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass, Jeep's mid-size sport utility vehicle, is currently the best-selling SUV in the Brazilian market. The second-generation vehicle is appealing due to its modern design, well-finished interior, and highly efficient engine. It was one of the first Chrysler Group models to offer versions with a continuously variable transmission manufactured by Jatco.

The current lineup of the new 2019 Compass features the Sport, Longitude, Limited, and Trailhawk trim levels, available with a 2.0-liter flex-fuel engine, six-speed automatic transmission, and 4x2 drive, or a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine, nine-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive.

With 60,284 units sold in 2018The Jeep Compass came in tenth on the list of best-selling cars.

9 – Fiat Argo

The Fiat Punto Argo is a hatchback car from Fiat, launched in Brazil on May 31, 2017, to replace the Punto and the Palio. Fiat's main focus is on the car's interior, where it promises a level of finish and quality above the standard the automaker used until 2017.

Although not a sales phenomenon in its category, the Fiat Argo is currently the best-selling car in the brand's range in the Brazilian market. The compact hatchback was introduced in mid-2017 and aimed to replace the Palio, Punto, and Bravo models in one fell swoop, with distinct versions capable of occupying the price ranges of its predecessors. Currently, the Fiat Argo competes with models such as the Chevrolet Onix, Hyundai HB20, and Ford Ka, as well as other more "refined" compact hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Polo, the Ford New Fiesta, and the Peugeot 208. To achieve this, it offers variants with 1.0-liter, 1.3-liter, or 1.8-liter engines, with manual, automated, or automatic transmissions.

With 63,011 units sold in 2018The Fiat Argo came in ninth on the list of best-selling cars.

Following closely in eighth place, another Fiat model achieved that position…

8 – Fiat Strada

The Strada is the pickup truck version of the Palio. Produced since 1995, with single, extended, and double cabs. Currently, it is produced in the following versions: Working, Trekking, and Adventure, all with Flex fuel engines.

A veteran in the national market, where it has operated since 1999, the Fiat Strada is the successor to the Fiat pickup truck built on the old Uno platform. This pickup, the best-selling in Brazil for several consecutive years, has undergone several subtle changes. This is because the current Fiat Strada is very similar to the model launched in 1999, receiving only a few restylings and mechanical updates over the years to remain an attractive pickup. The current platform is still that of the discontinued Palio from the 1990s, but this will change with the arrival of the new generation of the Fiat Strada. However, thanks to its enormous sales success to date, the current platform should remain in production to serve fleet customers in basic versions.

With 67,227 units sold in 2018The Fiat Strada came in eighth on the list of best-selling cars.

In seventh place, we have a Renault model with a rather unconventional name…

7 – Renault Kwid

The Renault Kwid aims to improve Renault's market position, replacing the discontinued Clio and competing with models like the Chery New QQ, Fiat Mobi, and Volkswagen up!. However, unlike the Sandero, this new model will be less powerful and feature a much simpler valve timing system. On the other hand, the 2018 Renault Kwid will heavily emphasize structural reinforcements and new standard equipment.

To challenge its rivals, the model relies on its prices, which start at R$ 32,490 and reach up to R$ 41,990.

The Kwid version arrives in Brazil with many new features! Among them are standard front and side airbags, and still speaking about safety, the car manufactured at the Ayrton Senna Complex in São José dos Pinhais (PR) receives an adaptation to meet the specific usage and legislation of each country.

With 67,320 units sold in 2018The Renault Kwid came in seventh on the list of best-selling cars.

In sixth place, we have a rather well-established Volkswagen model…

6 – Volkswagen Polo

The new 2018 Polo is VW's bet, with a strategy of reducing the number of versions of its cars, especially hatchbacks. Another novelty is the names of the versions, which will begin to be revised. In the case of the Polo, the two cheapest versions will be called simply Polo 1.0 and Polo 1.6 MSI, respectively. The more expensive ones will be Polo 200 TSI Comfortline and 200 TSI Highline.

They are equipped with a 1.0 turbo engine, but the manufacturer will replace the term "1.0" with "200," which refers to the 200 Nm of torque that the engine produces. It's a no-holds-barred approach to avoid being associated with an entry-level, low-powered car.

With 69,584 units sold in 2018The Volkswagen Polo came in sixth on the list of best-selling cars.

In fifth place, we finally have a Chevrolet car…

Launched in 1980, the Gol is considered one of Volkswagen do Brasil's greatest successes of all time. It is also the first and only Brazilian car to surpass the mark of 5 million units produced to date, becoming, in February 2009, the first and only one to surpass the Beetle in sales.

A pioneer in becoming Volkswagen do Brasil's entry-level model in international markets, it is the most exported model in Brazilian history, with over 1 million units sold to more than 50 countries, although it was never sold in Europe due to the presence of the Volkswagen Polo, which, despite its high price in Brazil, is in the same segment as the Gol. In 2010, the national fleet of Gol vehicles reached 5,152,655 units, including all versions of the vehicle in circulation. In the same year, the National Confederation of General Insurance Companies (CNSeg) released a survey showing that the Gol is the most stolen vehicle in Brazil with 21,907 reported thefts.

With 77,612 units sold in 2018The Volkswagen Gol came in fourth on the list of best-selling cars.

The Brazilian version is exported throughout Latin America, while the European version is produced in Valencia, Spain. In Brazil, it was a subcompact in its first generation; in Europe, it also offered sporty (called SportKa) and convertible (called StreetKa) versions. In its second generation, it became a compact car. In its third generation, it began offering two body styles: hatchback (called Ka) and sedan (called Ka+).

Despite its great success in recent times, the model was officially launched in Brazil in 1997 with a rounded design and a 1.0 Endura engine. It wasn't until 2008 that the Ford KA was restyled, gaining a new, more efficient and economical Rocam engine, without forgetting the modern design. According to the American automaker, the new line features a 1.0 EcoBoost engine and another 1.6 EcoBoost for a sporty ST version.

With 103,286 units sold in 2018The Ford Ka came in third on the list of best-selling cars.

The model entered the hatchback market to compete with the Volkswagen Gol, Fiat Palio, Ford Ka, Peugeot 207, Renault Sandero, Toyota Etios, and Chevrolet Onix. On January 22, 2013, the crossover version called HB20X was launched, and on April 18, 2013, the sedan version of the model, named HB20S, was launched. In 2015, the HB20 line underwent its first facelift, gaining a new front end with the hexagonal grille, first on the HB20 hatchback and the HB20X crossover, and later on the HB20S sedan. It was the third best-selling car in Brazil in 2015 and 2016. In 2019, it will participate in the HB20 Motorsport one-make competition.

With 105,506 units sold in 2018The Hyundai HB20 came in second on the list of best-selling cars.

And finally, in first place on the list, once again appears the leading brand in the Brazilian market, Chevrolet!

1 – Chevrolet Onix

The Onix is a compact car produced by Chevrolet; developed and manufactured by General Motors of Brazil. In 2012, it was presented at the São Paulo Motor Show, being one of Chevrolet's attractions. Launched with the mission of replacing the Corsa and the Celta, the Onix is based on General Motors' global small vehicle architecture, GSV or GAMMA II.

The Chevrolet Onix has no less than seven versions, two equipped with a 1.0 engine and five with a 1.4 engine. The transmission can be a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The price ranges from R$43,000 to R$67,000.

Its main competitors in the Brazilian market are the Volkswagen Gol, the Fiat Palio, the Ford Ka, and the Hyundai HB20. In 2015, it introduced innovations in the multimedia system to keep the driver more connected to the car, adding audio controls on the steering wheel, a leather-wrapped steering wheel in the automatic transmission version, and body-colored bumpers and door handles starting with the LT version. It also achieved the position of vehicle with the lowest depreciation in the market and the best resale value. In 2016, it received a facelift, gaining a new front, the OnStar system, and the 2nd generation of the MyLink system. In 2017, the engine was updated to improve fuel economy.

Brazil's best-selling car has arrived with an even more modern design, without losing any of its personality. The combination of 15″ aluminum wheels with LED daytime running lights and fog lights makes this hatchback even better.
