Goal The Gol is a Volkswagen automobile, designed in Brazil and sold in several countries under various names, including Mexico and Argentina. Launched in 1980, the Gol is considered one of Volkswagen do Brasil's greatest successes of all time. It is also the first and only Brazilian car to surpass the mark of 5 million units produced to date, becoming, in February 2009, the first and only one to surpass the Beetle in sales.

A pioneer in becoming Volkswagen do Brasil's entry-level model in international markets, it is the most exported model in Brazilian history, with over 1 million units sold to more than 50 countries, although it was never sold in Europe due to the presence of the Volkswagen Polo, which, despite its high price in Brazil, is in the same segment as the Gol. In 2010, the national fleet of Gol vehicles reached 5,152,655 units, including all versions of the vehicle in circulation. In the same year, the National Confederation of General Insurance Companies (CNSeg) released a survey showing that the Gol is the most stolen vehicle in Brazil with 21,907 reported thefts.

With 77,612 units sold in 2018, the Volkswagen Gol ranked fourth on the list of best-selling cars last year.
