Peugeot 208 It is a car manufactured by the French company Peugeot. Production began in Europe in 2012 and in Brazil in 2013, succeeding the 207 (both in Brazil and Portugal).

In Brazil, when the 206 evolved into the 207, there was only a facelift of the 206, which in Europe was known as the 206+. The true 207 was not offered in Brazil. After the 207 (206+) family proved to be a fiasco and damaged the brand's image in the Brazilian market, Peugeot decided to review its strategy.

Then, in 2013, the new 208 was introduced. The entry-level and mid-range versions, Active, Active Pack, and Allure, used a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder 8-valve engine with 89/93 hp (Gasoline/Ethanol), derived from the old 1.4-liter 8v engine with 75/82 hp used in the Brazilian 207, which in turn is the flex-fuel version of the one used since the 205 in the 90s, also used in the 206.

The 208 began competing among the so-called "premium" compact cars, along with the Fiat Punto, Citroën C3 (with which it shares the platform, factory and also the mechanical components), Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit and Chevrolet Sonic.

In the 2016 model, presented in June 2015, it received new standard equipment. The Active version was now equipped with a radio and fog lights, while the ActivePack received a side thorax airbag, dual-zone climate control, and a center headrest.

The most affordable car model is the 208 Active 1.2 Flex 12V worth R$51.253remaining in 33rd on the list of cheapest cars in Brazil.
