The new Pole 2018 marks VW's bet, with a strategy of reducing the number of versions of its cars, especially hatchbacks. Another novelty is the names of the versions, which will begin to be revised. In the case of the Polo, the two cheapest versions will be called simply Polo 1.0 and Polo 1.6 MSI, respectively. The more expensive ones will be Polo 200 TSI Comfortline and 200 TSI Highline.

They are equipped with a 1.0 turbo engine, but the manufacturer will replace the term "1.0" with "200," which refers to the 200 Nm of torque that the engine produces. It's a no-holds-barred approach to avoid being associated with an entry-level, low-powered car.

With 69,584 units sold in 2018, the Volkswagen Polo ranked sixth on the list of best-selling cars last year.
