However, there is an explanation for this: In Brazil, side impact protection is not mandatory, but it achieved a good score in the frontal impact test.
Chevrolet updated the safety features in the 2019 version with side impact protection bars, and the Onix received a new rating (3 stars) in Latin NCAP.
