THE Class E The E-Class is a line of mid-size sedans and station wagons from Mercedes. Its main competitors are the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series. It has been produced since 1993 and five generations of this model have been sold to date.
Historically, the Class E It is Mercedes-Benz's best-selling model, with over 13 million sold by 2015. The first series of the E-Class was originally available as a four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, two-door coupé, and two-door convertible. From 1997 to 2009, the equivalent coupé and convertible were sold under the Mercedes-Benz CLK nameplate; which was actually based on the mechanical fundamentals of the smaller C-Class, while borrowing the styling and some engines from the E-Class.
