The Celta originated from the project Blue Macaw (Arara-Azul) from the Chevrolet automaker, the Brazilian division of GM. The model was launched in 2000 at the Gravataí factory in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The factory's inauguration was attended by the then-President of Brazil, Fernando Henrique Cardoso. The price of the Celta ranges from R$14,000 to R$24,000.
THE Chevrolet Celta Production of the model ended in April 2015, with approximately 1.5 million units sold. However, used models are still being sold, and more than 27,235 units of the vehicle have already been sold in Brazil.
