4 – BMW 5 Series – fragile masculinity
If you've ever communicated with the famous Siri on the iPhone, or translated something using Google Translate, you probably know that these automated voice systems have always had a pattern of using female voices. We usually see male voices in customer service for subscription-based devices. In both cases, there's no serious problem. However, in Germany, several Germans complained about the GPS automated voice system in the BMW 5 Series, which used a female voice because they didn't accept being directed at a "woman," and even though it was an artificial intelligence process, BMW had to recall the models to replace them with male voices.
