Therefore, after age 50, you need to renew your National Driver's License more often. In other words, the frequency increases! And the same applies to other ages after 50.

When do I need to renew my driver's license?
Well, until you're 50, the renewal period for your National Driver's License is ten years! In other words, you can rest assured that you'll have plenty of time to drive without worrying about renewals, right?
On the other hand, between the ages of 50 and 69, renewal is required every five years! Now, for seniors over 70, this period decreases to three years!
The renewal was established so that more frequent examinations can be carried out. These examinations aim to verify the physical and psychological fitness and capacity of the drivers!

That's because the fine for driving with an expired driver's license is R$$293.47 and the driver receives seven points on their license, which is a lot! Moreover, during the pandemic, the validity of driver's licenses was extended.
In other words, many drivers could drive even with an expired license. Therefore, there was an 8-month extension, valid from May 2022 to December 2022.

Although there is no maximum age to drive, if your license has expired, it is necessary to understand when you can renew it.
So, let's look at an example: if your driver's license expired in September 2022, you will have until the end of May 2023 to renew it. In other words, you are still entitled to the additional 8 months!
Driver's license category B: what vehicles can you drive?
With a category B driver's license, you can drive certain types of vehicles, such as cars, motorhomes, and a few other options!
However, if your driver's license expires on or after January 2023, you only have 30 days from the expiration date to renew it! So don't waste time and risk receiving a fine!

Furthermore, you will need to undergo health exams if you are over 50 years old! With positive results, simply pay the necessary fees and wait for the new document to be issued!
