Honda HR-V: What are the good things about this model?
Discover now the many details that make the HR-V a unique model, desired by many people.
Starting with the design
The first thing to highlight about the Honda HR-V is its design. The model boasts a rather pleasing and well-balanced overall look.
In terms of design, the model boasts a pronounced front end marked by elongated, strip-style headlights housing LED daytime running lights connected to the grille, which features a chrome bar at the top and a wider air intake below.
It's not at all absurd to say that the model is a gem on wheels that has undergone a high-quality polishing process.
Safety is a major plus.
If there's one thing that's the gold standard in Honda cars, it's safety, and the HR-V is no different. The model features a number of components that make it extremely safe for city streets and highways.
The first safety feature is Lane Watch. It's a blind spot reduction assistant that is actually a camera installed in the right-side rearview mirror.
With it, the road lane captured from the right side of the Honda HR-V is displayed directly on the multimedia screen, increasing the driver's field of vision by up to four times. This reduces the chances of traffic accidents and incidents in garages.
The second system is AHA – Agile Handling Assistant. This system ensures greater vehicle stability by balancing the speed difference between the wheels in curves with high lateral acceleration.
Furthermore, it reduces the tendency for the vehicle to veer off course, resulting in more confident driving with more precise responses. In other words, the system keeps the car glued to the ground.
The VSA system includes traction and stability control and is responsible for intelligently and automatically balancing traction and braking on each wheel independently, ensuring greater stability and safety when changing trajectory.
The HSA system is installed in the vehicle to assist with incline starts, acting as a hill start assist. It keeps the brake engaged for a few seconds after the pedal is released.
This prevents the vehicle from rolling backward, providing more stability and safety on sloping terrain.
The Honda HR-V also features 6 airbags: two front airbags, two side airbags, and two curtain airbags, which are activated in emergency situations, ensuring the safety of all occupants on board.
Technology that surprises
Anyone familiar with Honda models knows that the onboard technology is both pleasing and surprising. And the HR-V is no exception. We'll now show you all the technological highlights that deserve attention.
The first item is the smart key with a proximity sensor for automatically unlocking the doors, eliminating the need for a physical key.
As many know, car keys are becoming obsolete. The Honda HR-V has a Start/Stop button for keyless engine starting. The engine is started with a simple push of a button. It's literally the height of sophistication and practicality.
Another point that involves not only technology but also safety is the electronic parking brake, which is activated with just one touch, providing convenience on board since it keeps the car completely stopped until the accelerator pedal is pressed.
Another feature is the rain sensor that automatically activates the windshield wipers on rainy days, bringing more convenience and safety to the HR-V.
The rearview mirror features anti-glare technology. This means that when exposed to high beams, it automatically dims, preventing the driver's vision from being obscured by excessive brightness.
The Honda HR-V also features front and rear parking sensors with audible alerts that make maneuvering easier, making everyday life even more practical and safe.
And the last technological item on our list is the Brake Hold function, which keeps the car stationary until the accelerator pedal is pressed, ensuring greater comfort in traffic situations.
Comfort and great convenience.
Despite being a compact SUV, the HR-V offers plenty of comfort and convenience to the driver and other passengers.
The first point to highlight here is the ample interior space to accommodate all occupants. The model features a new design for the front seats, which provides even more comfort during travel.
Another point worth highlighting is the seat folding system, which has been dubbed the Magic Seat.
This is an exclusive feature in its category that allows you to further expand the car's interior space in a practical and versatile way. With it, you can fold down the entire rear seat and the passenger seat, freeing up space that the competition doesn't offer.
The full touchscreen digital air conditioning system has a modern look and ensures comfort for the car's occupants, providing the ideal climate for travel.
Another convenient feature is the electric folding function with Tilt-Down, which automatically tilts the rearview mirror as soon as reverse gear is engaged. Ideal for assisting with maneuvers near curbs and sidewalks.
And finally, we can't forget to mention the model's spacious trunk. With the widest opening angle in its class and a capacity of up to 437 liters, carrying luggage and any type of object is no problem for the model's occupants.
connectivity
When it comes to connectivity, the Honda HRV also holds its own.
The star of all this connectivity is the multimedia center with a 7'' multi-touchscreen display that makes navigation much more user-friendly and intuitive.
The system connects easily with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and can be used with different smartphone operating systems.
This allows it to integrate functions such as GPS navigation, audio, Bluetooth, a reversing camera, and controls directly on the steering wheel.
Engine, transmission and fuel consumption
The Honda HR-V has two different engines: a 1.5 turbo and a 1.8 i-VTEC FlexOne.
The 1.5 turbo engine features direct injection and four cylinders with a low-inertia turbocharger, variable valve timing for intake and exhaust (dual VTC), and an electronic wastegate.
The gasoline-only version is capable of delivering 173 horsepower, and the engine is paired with a CVT transmission specifically tuned for this version, featuring unique characteristics and simulated seven speeds.
The 1.8 i-VTEC engine is capable of producing 140 horsepower on gasoline and 139 on ethanol. The engine features centralized valve timing with VTEC technology, which allows for electronic valve opening and closing via solenoids that control hydraulic valves, opening and closing the cylinder head valves.
At low engine speeds, VTEC keeps only two valves from each cylinder functioning: the intake and exhaust valves. This increases the compression of the air-fuel mixture, allowing for more power at lower engine speeds, which contributes to fuel economy.
But when the engine revs up, the VTEC gradually opens all eight valves. This helps to achieve higher power and better performance. As a result, the engine works as if it were two 8V and 16V engines in one.
Equipped with a 1.5 turbo engine, the HR-V model achieves an average of 11.5 km/L in the city and 14.5 km/L on the highway.
Already equipped with the 1.8 engine, the Honda HR-V, when fueled with ethanol, achieves an average of 7.7 km/L in the city and 8.6 km/L on the highway. With gasoline, the averages jump to 11 km/L in urban use and 12.3 km/L in highway use.
