After the Golf GTI was discontinued, Volkswagen kept a little-known version here: the Golf GTE. It's a hybrid model, which many may find strange, but believe me, this car deserves to be on the list of the cheapest sports cars in Brazil.

Nicknamed the "green sports car," the Golf GTE boasts a rather interesting powertrain. It features a 1.4 TSI engine producing 150 horsepower, paired with an electric motor capable of generating 102 horsepower. When combined, the two result in a total power output of 204 horsepower. 

In acceleration tests, the Golf GTE proves it's not just about fuel economy. The green sports car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220 km/h.
