Find out now which cars will be discontinued in 2020.

Chevrolet Cobalt

With the launch of the Onix Plus, Chevrolet said that the Cobalt would not be discontinued.

So far, the model is still being sold at dealerships, but according to information from brand representatives, the units being sold are 2019/2020 models.

Cobalt
Cobalt is slated for permanent retirement.

Once the current stock runs out, the Chevrolet Cobalt will reach the end of its run. Its smaller sibling, the Joy Plus (formerly called Prisma), has been given a reprieve and is expected to leave the market only at the end of 2022.

Ford Fusion

The outlook is bleak for the Ford Fusion. The American automaker has already stated that production of the model, which is manufactured in Mexico and exported to the US and Brazil, will be discontinued.

According to Ford itself, a direct replacement is ruled out, since the brand will abandon the mid-size and large sedan segment to focus on SUVs. Bronco's arrival This is an example of that.

End of the line for the Fusion.

The model is still being sold at dealerships, but under the label of 2019/2020 production and model year.

Hyundai IX35

The Hyundai IX35 may not be discontinued in 2020, but its future is somewhat uncertain.

The reason this model is on the list of cars that will be discontinued in 2020 is its low market share.

In addition to suffering consecutive defeats to competitors from another brand, the Creta faces direct internal competition because it is more modern and has similar prices.

IX35
Legal entanglement and low sales are expected to bring an end to IX35 production.

Although the 2020 model is being sold, and there is a production contract between Hyundai and Caoa, the South Korean company refuses to renew it.

The imbroglio is so significant that it's being analyzed by the Frankfurt Court of Justice in Germany. Based on our experience in the field, it's very likely that 2020 will be the end of the line for the IX35.

Volkswagen Fox

The Fox might even get a reprieve and survive for another year, but if that happens, the models will likely be marketed as 2020/2021 models.

The survival of small hatchback It is tied to its commercial performance. In 2019, the model was the 19th best-selling car here with more than 38,000 units registered.

Fox
Sales could seal the Fox's production.

The problem is that its registrations have been steadily declining. It's important to remember that the SpaceFox was discontinued precisely because of its poor sales performance.

Generations that will be discontinued in 2020

Just like some cars that will be discontinued in 2020, there are also generations that are saying goodbye to make way for their successors, which will only share the same names, but in practice will be totally different. Let's find out what they are!

Renault Duster

As we have already shown here, the new Duster It underwent some changes that are easy to notice, but which left something to be desired.

The car was, and is considered by the French manufacturer to be, a new generation, but just by looking at it, you can find many similarities with the previous generation. Furthermore, the engine is undoubtedly the weak point of this "renewal".

The new Renault Duster only has one engine option, the "outdated" 1.6 Sce with 120 horsepower.

The new generation of the Duster is similar to the previous one.

The acclaimed 2.0 naturally aspirated engine has been discontinued, and its natural replacement, the 1.3 turbo, has yet to arrive here. This could hinder sales.

Chevrolet Tracker

The Tracker is yet another model that will have its generation renewed.

The model, which was previously manufactured and imported from Mexico, has experienced ups and downs in the Brazilian market and is now trying to establish itself once and for all as a competitive and attractive SUV.

In addition to the revamped look, the more basic versions of the new Chevrolet Tracker Under the hood, they feature a 1.0-liter turbocharged flex-fuel 3-cylinder engine, capable of producing up to 116 horsepower, and a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

The Chevrolet Tracker has undergone a complete transformation.

The higher-end versions, however, are equipped with a brand-new 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder flex-fuel engine, but only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Without a doubt, this is a significant advantage in facing the competition.

Peugeot 208

Considered the "flagship" car of the French automaker in Brazil, the 208 will get an incredible new generation.

The model will be the same as the European version that was launched last year. Like many other vehicles, the new 208's launch and sales were hampered by the coronavirus pandemic.

The current generation of the 208 is manufactured at the Porto Real plant in Rio de Janeiro, but the new one will be produced in Argentina, at the automaker's factory in the city of El Palomar, and will be imported to Brazil with the trade benefits guaranteed by Mercosur.

The hatchback is an important part of Peugeot's plans to increase its market share in the Brazilian automotive market starting in 2021.

Honda FIT

The fourth generation of the Honda Fit was presented at the last Tokyo Motor Show and is expected in Brazil in the second half of 2020.

Although it has been completely redesigned, the mode maintains its focus on maximizing interior space and practicality inside the cabin.

In addition to the aesthetic update, the Fit features new engine options. For the first time, the model will be equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged direct-injection engine paired with a CVT transmission.
