5. Chevrolet Opala

The Opala is the model that defines Chevrolet's history in Brazil; it was the first passenger vehicle to be manufactured in Brazil, and it was based on the Opel Rekord sold in European countries.

The model featured different engine options, with four and six cylinders, as well as a fondly remembered sporty SS version, which was a sales success in the 70s. In the following decades, the Opala gained a station wagon version – the Caravan, in addition to a... more luxurious version, christened diplomat.

As it aged, the model underwent restyling that made it more boxy, until in 1992, after 23 years of production, it was discontinued, giving way to the Omega and entering history as one of the most iconic cars in Brazil.
