9. Ford Escort XR3
O Ford Escort XR3 travou uma batalha ferrenha com os dois modelos citados anteriormente, o Gol GTi e o Kadett (principalmente o GSi). O nome XR3 é proveniente do termo Experimental Research 3.
Considerado um dos carros icônicos do Brasil, o modelo empolgava, principalmente por
sonho de toda uma geração, travou uma dura batalha pelo posto de melhor esportivo nacional com o Gol GTi. O nome XR3 vem de “Experimental Research 3”, e o carro empolgava pelo visual invocado, com direito a rodas de liga leve aro 14, aerofólio traseiro e faróis de milha na frente. Pena que o desempenho não fazia jus ao estilo nervoso: o motor 1.6 CHT não era ruim, mas podia ser mais esperto com seus 83 cv. Saiu de linha em 1996.
