Discover which Chinese cars are the best-selling among Brazilians!

For a long time, the Brazilian automotive market only had established brands that inspired consumer confidence. However, today there are many Chinese cars vying for their place.

Although many still view Chinese car manufacturers' models with suspicion, it's important to keep in mind that they're here to stay.

Furthermore, it is important to point out that even in vehicles from famous and established brands, there are a number of Chinese components and parts.

Thinking about this, we at Senhor Carros conducted extensive research and came up with the 10 best-selling Chinese cars in Brazil.

Do you know which models are on the list? To find out, just keep reading!

The 10 best-selling Chinese cars in Brazil

Find out now which Chinese models have sold the most in Brazil!

10. JAC iEV20

JAC iEV20

We'll start with the electric model from the Chinese automaker JAC.

The model, which is currently considered the cheapest electric car in Brazil, is nothing more, in terms of design, than a restyling of the old Jac J2 that was discontinued in 2017.

With a beautiful and spacious interior, this Chinese electric car can comfortably carry 4 passengers.

Even with a range of up to 400 km according to the manufacturer, its weak engine of "only" 68 horsepower suggests that its use is purely urban.

9. Caoa Chery New QQ

Among the Chinese cars launched here, the QQ was a real attraction, as it featured safety and comfort items that were only present in more expensive and renowned models.

For a while, the Chery QQ was the cheapest car in Brazil, but it ended up being surpassed by competitors like the Fiat Mobi and Renault Kwid, for example.

Today, this remarkable little car is a good option for urban commuting.

Experts advise against using it for long journeys involving highways due to its lightness, as its performance can be affected by inclement weather.

Due to low sales figures, the model was discontinued at the end of 2019, but some 2019/2020 models are still available at dealerships. Over the years, since its launch in 2011, the model has faded into obscurity.

8. JAC T50

The JAC T50 is a sport utility vehicle, produced to compete with models already established here, such as the Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, Nissan Kicks, and even the Hyundai Creta.

To compete with established models, the JAC T50 has an affordable price and a generous list of features to entice future customers.

Despite its spacious interior, good finish, and safety features, the T50 falls short in its engine, which, although robust since the model has a 1.5-liter engine under the hood, can only be fueled with gasoline.

7. JAC T60

Right after the T50, we have its sibling, the JAC T60.

Analyses show that the model is indeed completely new and redesigned, but it lacks a defined identity. It's difficult to classify it as an SUV or a crossover just by looking at it.

Equipped with many standard features, such as a multimedia center and multifunction steering wheel, as well as safety features, it also falls short in terms of the engine, which is not Flex-fuel, but only gasoline-powered.

Its CVT transmission is imprecise, and this directly affects performance and fuel consumption.

6. Caoa Chery Arrizo 6

The Arrizo 6 is a mid-size sedan, launched in June, that aims to compete with none other than the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and even the Volkswagen Jetta.

Featuring a 1.5 turbo flex engine, the model has a CVT transmission with 9 simulated gears, as well as a wide range of accessories and safety features.

The recent release is drawing attention for its design; however, only time will tell if the Arrizo 6 will perform well in the Brazilian market.

5. JAC T40

After its launch, JAC made some updates to the T40.

Positioned in the SUV category, it struggles to steal any market share from the competition.

Like its siblings from the same brand that we've already shown here, the T40 is packed with technology and safety features, but the manufacturer insists on the mistake of not using a Flex engine.

Powered by a gasoline-only engine, an unreliable CVT transmission, and complaints about poor rear visibility, the JAC T40 is yet another Chinese car with poor sales figures.

4. Caoa Chery Arrizo 5

The Arrizo 5 is a lighter version of the Arrizo 6; to make the comparison easier, we can use the Honda City and Civic versions as examples. Recently, the model gained a fully electric version.

The model features the same 9-speed CVT transmission as its larger sibling. The engine is a 1.5 turbo Flex.

In terms of technology and safety, the Arrizo 5 is also well-equipped, but its mission to compete with established brands like Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Chevrolet, and even Fiat is somewhat thankless.

3. Caoa Chery Tiggo 7

The Tiago 7 underwent a rather heavy restyling to remain competitive in the SUV market.

The main changes can be seen on the exterior, with the change in lines, and on the interior, where it gained a more rectilinear style, a central panel, control instruments, and even new finishes.

With a 1.5-liter twin-turbo engine, the SUV delivers good performance, as well as ample interior space, quite comfortable for 5 passengers.

2. Caoa Chery Tiggo 2

The Tiggo 2 is the second best-selling Chinese car in Brazil, a comfortable model with affordable prices.

The model follows the trend of many Chinese examples, with a high offering of embedded technology, safety features, and an excess of plastic finishes that sometimes leaves something to be desired.

Regarding the engine, the manufacturer avoids JAC's mistakes, and has a 1.5 Flex engine under the hood that delivers up to 115 horsepower with ethanol.

1. Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X

And leading our ranking of best-selling Chinese cars in the Brazilian market is the Tiggo 5X.

The Tiggo 5X is by far the most popular and, consequently, trusted Chinese car among Brazilians. Starting with its design, which is much more attractive than the other SUVs on our list.

Also packed with standard features, a strong focus on safety, and good interior finishing, its more refined mechanics explain its strong sales figures.

The Tiggo 5X has a 1.5 turbo flex engine under the hood, capable of generating up to 150 horsepower with ethanol.

The model features a dual-clutch automatic transmission, which provides smooth gear changes, excellent performance, and satisfactory fuel economy.

Is it worth buying Chinese cars?

When discussing Chinese cars, it's necessary to be realistic and acknowledge that Brazilians still have prejudices against them.

Although models with a Chinese "nationality" are good in terms of reliability and functionality, there is still much concern regarding aspects such as skilled labor and the availability of spare parts.

Some car manufacturers still make some egregious errors, such as JAC, which offers some models with only gasoline engines, for example.

However, Caoa Chery has been doing its homework, as evidenced by its increasingly praised sedans and the growing market share of the Tiggo 5X in the SUV segment.
