THE Land Rover Land Rover is a British luxury car brand that merged with Jaguar Cars in 2013 and has been a subsidiary of Tata Motors since 2008. In Brazil, there are approximately 35 authorized dealerships since 1992 when the brand returned to the country, with Land Rio in Rio de Janeiro being the oldest. It is also the name by which the first all-terrain vehicle for civilian use, built by Rover in 1948, is commonly known. Later, the Land Rover division gained autonomy and has since been designing and building a wide range of all-terrain vehicles. Throughout its history, Land Rover has been controlled by various automotive companies, including British Leyland, British Aerospace, BMW, Ford, and, since March 2008, Tata Motors, which acquired Land Rover from Ford. Vehicles continue to be manufactured in Solihull, England (near Birmingham) and England (near Liverpool) and are exported worldwide.
