THE Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-Benz is a German automobile brand belonging to the Daimler AG group, created in 1924 as a result of a merger between Benz & Cie. and Daimler. Founded in 1871, Benz & Cie was the largest company created by the German Karl Benz. Daimler was founded by Gottlieb Daimler and his partner Wilhelm Maybach in 1890. Daimler died in 1900 and Maybach left the company in 1907. At that time, Daimler and Benz were major rivals. However, in 1924, the two companies signed a mutual assistance agreement due to the need to stimulate the German economy after World War I. This agreement was broken in 2000.
