17 – Clay Regazzoni
Clay Regazzoni He was a Swiss driver. Born in the Italian-speaking border region of Switzerland, he was effectively considered a compatriot by the residents of Italy, which made him a source of great pride for Ferrari fans in the mid-1970s.
After three seasons at Ferrari, Regazzoni moved to BRM, where he was part of a team that included Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Niki Lauda. Regazzoni and Lauda, along with team principal Luca Cordero di Montezemolo and technical director Mauro Forghieri, formed a successful partnership that yielded 15 wins, two constructors' titles, and a championship for Lauda in 1975. In 1980 Regazzoni He suffered an accident during the United States Grand Prix, held in Long Beach, when the brakes on his Ensign failed at the end of a high-speed straight, and this was the end of his career.
